I've never had problems with nylon bags scorching on the bottom of the kettle, but then I just use mine for BIAB, so I don't boil them.

BTW, Wilserbrewer makes some neat nylon bags in different sizes. You might find the size you need there.

The BIAB method is what I had in mind, but I wanted one to use as a spider. I now use a 5 gal strainer bag but I wanted something I could frame to fit inside my 20gal kettle without scorching. Think of a turkey fryer basket, that fills 90% of the kettle but I can lift out before running through the pump/chiller. The 5 gal bag seems to clump up and flow gets a bit tight when I brew APA/IPA, I wanted a larger bag to improve circulation.
