Hi there. Charlie here from Bucks County. Started brewing in 2013. I had a 23-year-old son living at home and it seemed ridiculous to ask him to go outside and have a catch so I said, "Hey, wanna go buy a brewing kit?" He jumped at the opportunity. We brewed for a few months and then he moved to NYC for work. I continued brewing.

We started with one pot on the stove and extract kits. It wasn't long before I cobbled together a three keg all-grain system. Bought an Anvil 15 gallon pot and started BIAB in 2018. This week, I bought an Anvil Foundry 10.5. Today is its initial brew. I love the simplicity of it and I found I was doing mostly 5-gallon batches.

So give me a shout if your in the area or need some advice.

Welcome to the community. I am not that far away. Between Hershey and Lebanon. I have relatives in Lansdowne and Northeast Philly. Looks like you have been brewing longer than I have. I began in 2017 with an all grain setup. Now 55 all grain brews under my belt and still excited about my next brew day. What a wonderful hobby.
I built a 3 tier gravity system that I plan to continue to use until I can no longer brew. Maybe when my system is too much work I will move to an automated system? Never know what the future will bring.

Sensei? What discipline?

Sensei? What discipline?

My Japanese Grandfather started calling me Sensei when I became a biology teacher. It stuck.

SENSEI
A. In addition to referring to school teachers by profession, SENSEI in Japanese is also used as a title of honor for people who teach something and for specialists in their own fields. Medical doctors are included among those specialists. So, you call them SENSEI.

I didn't know that. My son studied Ishinru from 5 years old until he started college. That is how I know the word. I thought is was strictly used in Karate to address the teacher. Thanks for the info.

Sometimes it pays to have a Japanese Grandfather...

I didn't realize that either as people always asked me what discipline and gave me a puzzled look when I replied Biology.

I am originally from Lancaster PA but due to losing a bet (seemed a good conversation stopper when asked why move to) I am now in Bismarck ND. Welcome to the crew!!
