so a relative has an indoor garden, and makes CO2 in a milk jug with water yeast and sugar.

basically i need to know if the amount of sugar and yeast affects the strength of the drink. cause i think there is quite a bit for less than a gallon of water, maybe in the 3 cups of sugar and somewhere around that in yeast, bu that is a VERY rough estimate. very rough.

tastes pretty bad, but wpuldnt expect any different

thanks!

As far as I understand it (I've only been brewing for 6 months or so), it works like this:

Yeast eats sugar and produces Alcohol and CO2.
So long as there is sugar, the yeast will continue to eat it and produce alcohol.
The catch is that yeast cannot live in alcohol. Depending on the strain, the yeast will die off at different alcohol percentages.

So I guess an answer would be:

More sugar= More alcohol.

I also always wondered what would happen if you dropped yeast in straight sugar syrup or a super high concentration of sugar in a liquid.
