"Branches" growing off main Hops bine

NOOB 1st season grower...

My plants have stopped growing up (about 12 ft) and long branches are growing horizontally--starting at the bottom. I started to "train" them around the main bine as they were getting so long they were breaking.

Is this the correct method? I was worried about Choking the existing cones with the new growth all around them as some of the cone tips are now starting to turn brown...

Well, I hope it's the correct method. That's what I did. There's now a tangled mass of leaves, bines, sidearms, and hops creating a giant ball of hoppiness at the top. No indication that anyone is suffering. Life is good!

It's what I do. Horizontals tend to have cones.
