Not new to brewing but first time with a pils. I did a single infusion mash of 93% superior pilsner malt with a little carapils and cara-pils. Used RO and one gallon bottled spring water. Pitched safale lager yeast. Fermenting at 53f and measures at 1.020. I could not help but taste the hydro sample as my religion frowns upon wasting beer. I get a sulphuric mineral water taste far from anything I have tasted, good or bad. Is this normal?

+1 Lagers need super patience. Wouldn't even taste one until after it has lagered for a month.

Thanks for both response. I always taste hydro samples. I don't normally check gravity after one week but I noticed little activity. Might be the yeast. Never used dry yeast before. I'll stay the course and leave her be until after diacetyl rest.
