Just finished building my temp controller today and it works like a charm! For the beginners here (like myself); this a very easy build (see link below); don't be intimidated!

I will be brewing my first lager this week and cant wait. Not to mention I can now control the fermentation temps on all my brews. The whole thing cost me under $100. Just keep an eye out for a fridge on craigslist; I picked one up for $40. I wanted to pass this on from a n00b perspective because when I first heard about this set up it seemed a little complicated and expensive, it is neither.

I'm glad to hear that you're now operational.

I promise that, after using a temp controlled fermenter chamber for just a batch or two, you will bless the day that you decided to go this route.:rockin:

Temp control might just be the most important thing in the brewing process...you will be so pleased

Thanks Floyd! I believe it was you who pointed me in this direction. Thanks for all the help! :mug:

Glad to have helped. I give heaps of credit to those who took the time to put together the step-by-step instructions with pics and the YouTube video I usually link to. That stuff helped me tremendously so I like to pass it on to others.

That's exactly what I am looking for. YouTube video was great! Thank you very much for taking the time to do this.

At our monthly homebrew tasting/meeting last Thursday a couple of great guys that I've known for years showed up and want to get started brewing together (they are brothers-in-law). I told them to hold off buying anything until we find them a used fridge/freezer and I'll help them set it up with an STC-1000 so that their first batch comes out right. IMO, a very tasty first batch really encourages new brewers to stick with it and turn it into a regular hobby.
