Yeast starter from previous AG Batch runnings

Question...

I'm reading about storing excess, low OG runnings from the end of a batch sparge in a sterile jar for a yeast starter in a later batch of brew.

My question is, how long will that last if i refrigerate it in a sterile mason jar? Is there a particular shelf life for that? Not the DME is expensive but ive been upping my grainbill while getting used to my new equipment and always have a decent amount left and figured I might as well put it to use somehow.
