question for my NYC peeps.

I am coming up next week for a couple of nights to catch the Rangers game at The Garden. I am trying to find a hotel within walking distance,so far the prices are pretty high. Any recommendations? Would I be better off staying in Brooklyn and taking the train into Manhattan? Thanks in advance

The Roosevelt in Midtown USED to have reasonable prices. I dont know about now. Brooklyn might have better rates, not sure, but Brooklyn has exploded so much in past decade I would think it to be rather pricy as well. If I werent a native I would look at Long Island City and take the 7 train into Grand Central before heading to the Garden.
