    maybe didn't mix in right. I once had a batch that only half carb up right. my advice is to start kegging....

    Wow great! Yes the stout was really great! I did a long cold conditioning and the oils seemed to settle out. the head was good as well. Cocoa flavor was strong . The beer was very good after more time conditioning in the keg. ...

    Dry hopping in keg and timing

    ditto... that's what I do. hops in a hop bag with a few heavy washers ( all sanitized) and left in till the keg kicks.... it's neat to taste how the flavor changes over time....

    coco beans

    ok here we go, made an imperial stout 3 years ago added roasted coco beans in secondary that where crushed and soaked in 100 proof vodka , I thought to sanitize ... beer was very good++. so I thought to add beans again to my imperial stout today but I thought let's just boil them in some water...

    well if the gravity was high and for a triple it probably was I would do 3 weeks primary 1 week secondary room temp then 2 weeks cold conditioning. at that point I would re-yeast at bottling. you should be ok without adding more yeast though...

    Noob question on 1st brew

    don't dump beer that's alcohol abuse ... put it in anything that closes up tight I've used a plastic soda bottle in a jam... just make that one the first to try...fill a growler too

    First all-grain - 3.5 gallon boil off??

    well a couple points. you really shouldn't squeeze the grains. the grains do hold water. you might want to get a rubbermaid bev. cooler and mash in that. you don't have to have the hole set up with the fly sparge. what you do is put your mesh bag in cooler with grains and x amount of water.mash...

    good points. after you have brewed for a while you will learn how green beer should taste and if there is an off- flavor you will know it .....please cover that fermenter...

    Dried, fresh or extract?

    yes the cans are the best. the extracts are ok but only in small amounts. if you only want a small backseat fruit flavor then they work. if you use to much extract then it taste like medicine .... cans are best but they do cost more....

    I've tried a lot. If it's hoppy you want, bitter, flavor and aroma. I think smuttynose is one of the best....
