Perlick 525SS compared to new 630SS

OP here.... I haven't had any leaks or any issues since swapping from the 525 to the 630SS. I think it is a combo of the flat washer (o-ring) and the fact that it seems to float around more than what the 525 did so it finds a good seal better.

    Perlick 525 SS faucet leaks

I had to fight with them a bit when I called once I saw that the 630ss was released. Eventually they sent 3 of them to replace the 3 I had but never asked for the 525s back so I still have them. Two are sitting in a box and I put one back on my kegerator as I am running rootbeer on that one at...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Just a thought here. Have you tried to power the Arduino off something else? See if it powers off a laptop. Doesn't really help beyond seeing if the Arduino will power up but it is a quick test of it. I am assuming you are powering the Pi off a cell phone type charger. There are lots of them out...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I have also been trying to get this to work but haven't had any luck yet. Right now I am leaning toward an issue that I have seen people talking about recently in this thread. I don't know if the RasberryPi B+ is different than the earlier ones but if you are powering your Arduino of the USB of...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Hmm, I might have to look into a wall wart as well. If I am running 2 Unos with displays I'll bet the single RPi B+ won't be able to keep up. Being I work in IT I have easy access to old ATX desktop power supplies. What about getting 5V from one of those? I need to power some 12V fans and I was...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Thanks to all that have gone through this before me. I am starting my build and have a couple questions. Skip to the end if this is too long and you don't want to read about the overall plan. Now, I haven't read all the posts here but I have read quite a bit of them and it make sense. From...

    Keggerator Project (Bev Air DD94)

Well I am starting another Keggerator project. My first was a Beverage Air BM23C-S which is the Club Top Stainless Steel Keggerator that I got off an auction for $100 I think a few years back. It holds a single 1/2 barrel or 4 Ball Locks which is a nice size for in the house. Since it has...

Perlick 525SS compared to new 630SS

I figure that if the 630 doesn't leak and has a plastic part I can live with it. I have read where the 525 started plastic and was later switched to metal. They will likely do the same to the 630 later down the road if it turns out to be an issue. If I break the plastic part and a metal...

Perlick 525SS compared to new 630SS

Well I went with stainless. I figured I plan on using these for a really long time. If they are all stainless, not like you have to worry about the finish wearing off.

Perlick 525SS compared to new 630SS

In using both, I would say I don't notice a difference in terms of foam.

Perlick 525SS compared to new 630SS

Next time I pull one for cleaning I will see what I can get a pic of or at least try and compare the in terms of internal polish. From an external quick look I don't see much difference between the 630 and 525.

    Forgot my o2

Do you have more than one fermentation vessel? Pour it back and forth a couple times. Most regular hardware stores would carry the small bottles of O2 and would be open on Sundays. If your only option is to wait till tomorrow, I would skip O2. You want to do it before you pitch the yeast so...

    Frosty keg with Perlick?

I would try to just connect it up to your shank. Worst case, the shank can be replaced pretty easily but as far as I know they are all standard.

What is up with Midwest and Northern Brewer

I happen to live in MN, just outside St Paul so I could go to MW or NB and get it without shipping. We happen to have a LHBS that is closer so I buy from him. His prices are about the same and I like supporting him as it is nice to have a local guy.

    Pin lock vs ball lock

Yeah, I know about MFL fittings and use them. I have all the MFL adapters on the commercial couplers as well if I wanted to tap any of those. There are also other means to switch fittings around. I would prefer to stick with one though. The more you move stuff around, the more you need to check...

    Pin lock vs ball lock

The biggest thing I would say is pick one and stick with it. It is more of a PITA To change couplers back and forth so pick one and stick with it. Personally all mine are ball locks. As mentioned Pin locks are cheaper and easier to find used. There is the size difference but it isn't that big...

    Definite leak?

Like you mentioned, the way everyone does FC is the best way to them. Bottom line, you can do what you want. I set to serving pressure and leave it. As I mentioned, I have more room than taps. I have 6 kegs but can only have 4 in the keggerator. So for me it isn't a big deal hook it up to gas...

    Help with Beverage Air DD22

I was checking the resistance between the windings. Basically there are 3 readings you can take. Two of the readings are small numbers and then there is a third reading which is a larger number. By adding the two smaller numbers together you should get the larger number. If you don't it...
