Craft The Perfect Draft - Tips For Clearing Your Beer

15 minutes for WhirlFloc is fine. I can't agree with the insinuation that clearer beer = better beer. Some obsess over this and for specific styles I can agree, but unless you are packaging with a lot of trub in suspension, any sediment will settle out in the keg or bottle and most definitely...

Achieving a silky/pillowy/creamy mouthfeel (a la Hill Farmstead)?

There is a close connection with TH and HF for sure. Jean from TH does love using a lot of oats and a lot of wheat in his beers though...no secret here, as you can see the tap updates on twitter/instagram. This definitely gives his beers a very unique flavor profile, mouthfeel, etc. Being...

Achieving a silky/pillowy/creamy mouthfeel (a la Hill Farmstead)?

I am not 100% positive, but Shaun is filtering his water. The hard well water in that region is known to have some unpredictable mineral content. Could be RO, probably carbon filtration or dilution... To stress again, a combination of all processes is what gets his beers to where they are...

Achieving a silky/pillowy/creamy mouthfeel (a la Hill Farmstead)?

Good to know about the Antwerp strain. Will definitely give it a try with my next porter. It is interesting to see certain strains really pop with a grain bill, water profile, etc. This is where great beers become incredible beers.

Achieving a silky/pillowy/creamy mouthfeel (a la Hill Farmstead)?

I think we are all getting close here and I like the ideas that keep coming. I have been doing a quite of bit of playing with my water, pH and grain bill to really hone in on my hoppy beers. I wouldn't say that I am trying to replicate what HF and TH are producing as far as mouthfeel, pillowy...

Brett Beer The Funkmeister - Brett Saison with bugs

Did you happen to measure your mash/boil/final pH on this bad boy? I am looking to do something similar here soon, with a total of about 20% Acid malt in mash once sacc rest is complete. I like the dreg choices too...Noble king is a perfect choice for this style of beer. Was thinking of a...

So i used these chips, as per recommendation from Haputanlas, in my big (~9.8 abv) RIS...i finally bottled today after 3 weeks in primary and one month in secondary (about 3oz of the chips soaked in some Bulleit). I tasted it and it tastes absolutely amazing...reminds me of an oaked yeti. Was...
