    starter volume

    This may be a silly question, but when making a starter thats say.... 1L, that is the pre-decanted volume right? Including the starter wort.... Or is that the volume of yeast u want without the wort?

    So i am curious..... I know you can use programs to calculate all kinds of brewing things, but im old fashioned and like to do it by hand.... My question is....     pineapple saizon

    I was looking at doing a 5gallon saizon extract and wanted to incorporate pineapple into it, what would be the best way to do this....if its even possible?     increased temp during fermentation??

    I have heard that during fermentation the temp can rise 5-10 degrees. I know you are supposed to be in an area 68-72* or so, is that temp the ambient air, or the liquid? I am fermenting in an area that avg 70*, should i try to get it cooler since the liquid will heat slightly? Thanks!!!
