    Cincinnati brewery

Looking for a Cincinnati brewery recommendation for Monday night. I've hit Rhinegeist and it looks like many breweries are closed Mondays. Anyone have a recommendation that is open Mondays?

    Los Angeles breweries

Heading to LA next week for a couple of days and looking for brewery recommendations. I'm staying out near LAX and will be using taxi/Uber/Lyft. Thanks in advance!

Burnt sugar smell from Belgian blonde

I brewed up a Belgian blonde yesterday, transferred to the primary and it smells heavily of burnt or caramelized sugar. My recipe included 10lb Belgian pils 1lb table sugar 0.8lb Belgian Munich 0.7lb Belgian aromatic I added the sugar at what I thought would be 15minutes but ended up...

    Multiple rounds of dry hopping

I'm doing an NEIPA this week and in some research have found examples of dry hopping multiple times during fermentation, e.g. adding hops just after peak fermentation and adding more dry hops once fermentation has completed. Is there any advantage to this "multi-stage" dry hopping and if so, is...

    Layers in harvested commercial yeast

I pulled the dregs from a Tree House beer and tried propagating the yeast. I had some success but have notice two distinct layers in my flask. I know often times harvesting from a trub cake will produce layers due to getting some trub sediment but I was surprised to see that here. Is it likely...

    Boston area breweries

I've been to Trillium once in the spring and it was packed, line back into the field. Is it usually that busy or did I just catch it right (wrong)?

    Boston area breweries

Thanks all. Sounds like there is consensus on Aeronaut and Mystic so I think those will be on the short list. Appreciate the help!

    Boston area breweries

I'm heading from Boston to Lowell Tuesday afternoon and am looking for advice on breweries to hit up. I'm heading to Trillium after landing and have thought about Aeronaut, Lord Hobo, Idle Hands, or Night Shift. Any recommendations out of those or any others to put on the list? Thanks!

    Atlanta breweries

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm staying downtown at the Residence Inn, so Athens may be a bit of a haul. I'll also be relying on Uber, taxis, and mass transit so will likely stick relatively close to downtown. Looks like Wrecking Bar and Porter are right next to each other and Torched Hop is...

    Atlanta breweries

I'm heading to Atlanta for the weekend and had a question on their breweries. If I understand correctly, they technically cannot sell beer at the brewery so they sell glasses for tastings? I was looking at Red Brick's website and they have brewery hours and tours, would I need to go at the time...

    Cincinnati visit

Thanks for the quick response drain. I'm staying at a hotel that looks to be on teh east side of 71 just northwest of Eden Park (I've never been to Cincinnati before, just basing it off Google maps) and it reports to be about a 1.5 mile walk from there to Rhinegeist. Is the neighborhood bad...

    Cincinnati visit

Short notice but I'll be in Cincinnati tomorrow night, anyone have recommendations on breweries to hit up? I noticed there's a "Brewery Collaboration Beer Draft" at Rhinegeist, anyone know anything about that? Thanks in advance!

    Apple dunkelweizen?

I've got a batch of dunkelweizen just finishing the ferment and was wondering about pulling some of it off an adding apple to a secondary. Thoughts on to whether this would be a good or bad idea?

    Sparge acidification in Bru'n water

Working out the water chemistry for a dunkelweizen and was wondering if the alkalinity used for the sparge acidification tab should be taken from the finished water profile of the water adjustment tab rather than the water report. If so, would the starting water pH change from what is reported...

    Fiji water brew

Alaskana, that the spring near Lion's Tap? How did it turn out or is it still in progress? I've been looking to toy with my brewing water and had wondered about using that spring water. As it is, I think I may just get a water report and adjust as needed.

    Breweries near Lowell, MA

Thanks for all the suggestions. Got to a few of them and ended up hitting Trillium on my way to the airport. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that they only do take-out so I ended up sipping on my 32ozs of SummerStreet in the rental car return lobby. Absolutely worth it!

    Covering up bitterness after fermentation?

I just posted about an overly-bitter beer yesterday, too, and much of the responses seemed to indicate water issues, possibly to high of a pH. Last night on a lark I dropped a bit of fresh squeezed lemon juice (about a tsp) into a pint of the IPA and it cut the bitter flavor significantly...

IPA help - is it the water?

I have brewed a few IPA batches and they all seem to have a bitter finish to them, not hoppy bitter, but bitter. I've tried to do some troubleshooting (adding campden to help with any chlorine, decreasing bittering additions and adding more hops later [post-10mins]) but haven't seemed to have...
