1 week cider/wine/spunding valve hybrid project

I find This interesting... When you do this could you take a picture of the valve, and how it is connected? I wonder about the amount of carbonation you will get out of this

    Hopped hard cider

Did you hop it in primary or secondary, also you left it about one and a half weeks in there. How much flavor did it give you?

A few Qs about beginning Cider.

If you are using that kind of airlock I wouldn't transfer to secondary because of oxidation risk. Just bottle it after fermentation. With a little luck it'll taste just fine. 3-4 weeks fermenting should be plenty. With 'real' equipment your results will be more predictable and controllable which...

    First applejack....mmmmm

Nice, should give some high abv alcohol! Did you just add the sugar to cold AJ because I cooked mine so the sugar completely dissolved in the AJ. My OG was 1.094 and I used 2 packages of wyeast 4021 pasteur champagne and of course nutrients. I hope it ferments out completely. Never made such...

    Dry hopped, Citrus peels, Blackcurrant

So the blackcurrant one has been altered to 'Carrefour Bio Blackcurrant, Elderberry, strawberry' I had hoped the strawberry wouldn't overpower in flavor and I wasn't dissapointed after a taste :). They are currently all sitting in primary. I expect the third one to kick off in about 12-24 hours...

    Sweetening after ferm.

Or You can sweeten with non fermentable sugars like candarel, lactose(not real sweet, but takes of the edge) or perhaps stevia (no experience with that one though)

As long as it tastes good! Really? I thought the exact opposite. Maybe I'll try going for it after these batches.

    Greetings straight outta Belgium

Hi, 24 years old ICT student with interests in photography, music, brewing and gaming. Been on here since 2011 and made only one, yet successful, batch of hard cider. Currently I am trying some new things (In this thread) Might try beer someday, we will see what time brings :)

    Dry hopped, Citrus peels, Blackcurrant

So last year I made(first ever) 25 litres (6.6 gallons) of cider and let it ripe in secondary with medium roasted oak chips. I let it ferment out dry, then back sweetened with lactose to take of the edge and bottle carbonated with some dark cane sugar. And it was delicious but 'vanilla'... So...
