Where to buy the cleaning tabs? The shipping from PicoBrew is more than the tabs!!

AIH does the exact amounts, and with the loyalty points it's a no brainer for me. When you build your cart, you can select as low as .125 lb. I used to only use Austin Home Brew, as they will build a bag for you with exact amounts and crush them together. You receive one bad with your recipe...

I brewed my 4th Pico batch last night, a Helles. Got it cooled all the way to 65 then used my ferm fridge to get it to 50. Pitched last night. Curious to see how fermentation goes, as I have never made a true lager style.

Haven't done anything to the water.

Obviously, I won't know for sure until they ferment and carb, but the Pale Ale and Mosaic Wheat wort samples seemed very bitter to me. I'll keep you updated. I doubt my water is much different than yours. I'm in Elgin, IL.

I meant that I am now doing a PBW clean. It's almost done. Gonna rinse a couple times after.

Just pitched the S-04 on my Smoke Porter. The sample tasted AMAZING! Missed my OG by 3 points. 1.049 vs 1.053. First time the Pico has been off by more than 1 point. I'm not running a clean with PBW. When it's done, I'll do a couple of rinses and should be good to go for my next brew...

Agree with bobbytruck on the syringes. Those are perfect. Just hit go on my third batch of the weekend, a Smoked Porter. The Pico Pale and Mosaic Honey Wheat are already fermenting nicely at 65 degrees.

Just pitched the yeast on the Pico Pale. Gotta admit, so much easier than my propane system. Looking forward to brewing again tomorrow.

Mash just finished. Only thing I don't like so far is the lid curled a little. Not flat on the step filter anymore.

Just started my first PicoBrew. Doing the Pico Pale Ale first. Only thing I'm trying to determine is how I'm going to cool. If I overnight cool, do I put the actual keg lid on?

My Pico arrives on Monday. Very excited!! I have ingredients for 7 batches. Planning to ferment in my traditional carboys. The posts above about transferring are great. Need to figure out how to do that instead of using a siphon.

Thanks guys! Last question (maybe): Wheb adding sugar, where do you add? In the keg with the brewing water? In the grain?

Thanks for the quick reply. The thing I can't figure out is water amounts. Or do I not worry about it? I use Beersmith to formulate recipes. How do you calculate the amount of water to start with? I like your half rule, that makes recipes easy. But water amount?

I would like to start putting recipes together and buy ingredients. For the PicoBrew, how many gallons do you scale to? 2.5 or 3 gallons??

Just placed my order with AIH! Way too good of a deal to pass up with the free shipping, gift card, and points. I was going to wait until next month, but didn't want to miss the deal. Can't wait to get this bad boy! Never can find time to brew due to busy life and work. And recently...

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on one of these. Have any of you fermented in carboys to free up the keg for more brewing?
