Casters for True TDD-2 or Similar Kegerator

I have a True TDD-2 that I bought from a bar going out of business and cleaned up. I'd like the ability to move it, but it's not on casters. I've seen a few OEM options online, but they're insanely expensive. Has anyone had success adding casters? Know what I should be looking for?

Ohio Electric Keggle, Control Panel, MT, Plate Chiller

I'm selling most of my hot side equipment in attempt to simplify. I'm keeping everything together for now, pick up only. I'll part out if it doesn't sell in two weeks. - Keggle with welded fittings in the bottom and one weldless towards the top that I used for a steam condenser. 5500 watt...

Dry fired. Is my element dead?

I just dry fired my element for 10 seconds tops. It was enough to glow and smoke a bit. The element looks fine, but as soon as I plug it in, the breaker trips. Is it dead? Anything I can do to save it?

First brew on my electric system.

First of all, big thank you to all of the people that post to this board. I've been dreaming up an electric brewery for 2+ years now. Researching, planning and collecting parts (I bought a spa panel when I read they went on sale 1.5 years ago. It was just wired on Saturday). I originally wanted...

Simple toolbox control panel for review

I've been buying parts and researching for over a year. I've finally made significant progress on my electric brewery. I'm trying to keep it inexpensive and safe. It's modeled after the countertop brutus 20, but 240v 5500 watts for 5 gallon batches. My goals are simple and accurate...

    Shared Homebrew Space Concept

I recently became familiar with the Hackerspace concept. People teaming up to buy space, equipment and tools for some more advanced hobbies. They range from woodworking to basic electronics to welding and robotics. I thought to myself, why aren't we doing this with our hobby? I'm picturing a...

    Counterflow chiller with 1/2" copper

I have some leftover 1/2" copper tubing after making an immersion chiller, but want to switch to counterflow. Has anyone had success with 1/2" for a counterflow chiller?

    Simple PID Wiring

I'm planning on building a simple control panel with PID to control a Brutus 20 system. I've seen many complicated systems posted on here with switchs, e-stops, multiple SSRs and the like. I'm wondering what I'm really missing by having a PID control one SSR. I understand that when an SSR...

    Immersion Chiller w/ Electric Element

Is anyone using an immersion chiller or HERMS coil with an electric system? Do you do anything to prevent it from sitting right on the element?

    New Kegerator Door

My mother in law picked up a decent kegerator for me at a garage sale for $20. It was worth it 5X over just for the co2 tank and regulator it came with. It's not a pretty site, but I already have a nice converted Sanyo upstairs, so the plan is to use this as a lagerator/basement kegerator...

Can two bad beers = one good beer? YES!

I've had two failed recipes this year. The first was an imperial stout that was brewed parti-gyle style with a low gravity stout. The low gravity beer was great. The imperial stout just wasn't right. I couldn't put my finger on the problem. The smell and aftertaste were just "off". It's been...

Computer Fan or Heat Sink for SSR

I need a heat sink for the 40A Auberins SSR I just bought. I'm trying to avoid paying $10 to ship an $18 heat sink. Could I use a computer fan or heat sink out of an old computer I have laying around to cool it? Could I avoid cooling it all together if I left it out of the control box...

Probe to fit Thermometer Site guage

I think I understand the difference between a thermocouple and a probe, but I want to be sure I am picking the right thing. I am building an electric HLT that will be controlled with a PID. I am buying the Weldless Thermometer Sight gauge from Bargain Fittings seen here...

    New PID

So I've been dreaming of going from batch sparging outside with a turkey fryer to an all electric HERMs set up in the basement. I've been slowly buying the pieces and parts I need. I've got a pump, tubing, quick disconnects, and an unconverted sanke keg. I think I lucked out on a PID...

    Coldplate for chilling

I just got my hands on two four pass cold plates. I was wondering if anyone has tried to use a cold plate for wort chilling. I was thinking that I could throw it in a bucket of ice and replace the ice as it melts. Seems like it would work better than the wimpy IC I am using now. Thoughts?

    Reconditioning Cornies

I bought my first cornie and I need to clean and recondition it to fill. I can't seem to get the lid off though. I released the pressure and pulled up the lock. Is the lid supposed to push in or pull out? Neither is working. Any tips?

    Batch sparge question

I completed my first all grain brew over the weekend :rockin: but got really bad efficiency (56%) . I've been reading up trying to figure out what I did wrong, and I think it might be my sparge technique. I was brewing a porter (Edmund Fitzgerald Clone) with 12 pounds of grain. I did a...

How much priming sugar is too much?

I just realized that I doubled the amount of recommended priming sugar for the last batch that I made. I used 8 ounces for a batch that turned out to be 4 - 5 gallons. Oppps. I have had it stored at 66 degrees for the past two weeks, but the bottles still aren't even carbed. What should I do...

    AG Chilling Options

I am interested in moving to all grain, but I have one concern that is holding me back. I live in a condo and don't have a hose or a kitchen sink that will allow me to connect a wort chiller. I have one of those sinks with a spray connection only. Are there any other options for cooling wort...
