I can't believe all of the misinformation that is still going around about BIAB. You don't need and extra fine crush and you don't need to sparge in order to attain close to an 80% efficiency with BIAB! You only need to do it right.

The shorter mash time probably won't hurt efficiencies but will probably hurt attenuation. The longer mash times give the enzymes time to break down the simpler sugars which the yeasts can more easily devour.
thanks dinnerstick, I had thought that I would just boil down to my final volume. I expect this may cause some flavour issues (camelization ?) but not sure.
I haven't run the numbers yet but I am planning to do a barley wine soon and thought that I will just cut my final volume back to about 2 1/2 gal and up the grain bill. Anything wrong with this idea?

I'm not sure about your equipment but I went through this about a year ago and lost 4 batches of brew. I still am not sure what was causing it but it went away after I dismantled all of my valves (BK,bottling bucket,autosyphon bottom, and perlicks) and ssuper sanitized them.
