    Bar Top Keezer Build

Now that you've lived with it for awhile, do you reccomendation this type or something less dense? I've had other keezer lids really squish and deform the weather stripping too much, so was looking for a denser alternative.

    Bar Top Keezer Build

looks awesome! just curious - what kind of weather stripping did you use between the collar and the freezer? is that a sponge neoprene? looks like it must be dense as it doesn't compress much.

Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

Have you experimented with a finer crush? That can make a huge difference and isn't as big of a deal with the biab method like it is with traditional all grain. Also, are you stirring really well and making sure to break up any dough balls? I have a similar system and process and regularly...

    Did I burn my wort?

Just following up on this. The beer was indeed burnt. :( Couldn't even remotely pass it off as "smoked". I have since been more careful to stir while bringing to a boil and haven't yet tried to throw hops directly in the kettle without a hop bag since then. I also haven't used that...

    Starter trouble / infection?

I decided it didn't look troublesome enough to be an infection and decided to decant and pitch. We will see how it goes! I'll post back results. It did get me thinking though, is a foam stopper sufficient protection for extended storage in the fridge? Seems to be varied opinions like most...

    Starter trouble / infection?

I made a yeast starter about 4 days ago but couldn't brew as planned. Put it in the fridge with a foam stopper and took it out to pitch tonight. Seeing a few white floating things, so I am worried about infection. Not sure how clear these pics come out, but should I be worried about this...

120v 2000W, will a longer element or narrower pot inprove boil?

I actually just recently changed out my brew kettle and it made a big difference. Specifically, I switched to an 8 gal Tall Boy Kettle from Northern Brewer, which has a 12.5 inch diameter pot. That made a huge difference, because it narrowed the surface area considerably (was 14 in before)...

    Did I burn my wort?

Yeah, it's compacted to almost normal now. Probably about .40 gal or so. Still not sure if Im going to have a burnt taster or not, and still can't figure out how I had scorching on my element after at least 8 sessions with this system with no issues. I did squeeze the bag a lot more than...

    Did I burn my wort?

It is a fine crush, but practically nothing is getting through the biab bag -- it has really fine holes. Would that still affect trub? It has condensed a lot. It's at the 1/2 gal mark, of a 2.5 gal batch. Still more than I would think, but not nearly what the pic shows.

    Did I burn my wort?

Yeah, it is a lot! Hoping it settles quite a bit. It was about 2 oz of hops for a 2.5 gal batch, so way more than I was expecting!

    Did I burn my wort?

And sorry, I haven't been able to figure out how to rotate the pic!

    Did I burn my wort?

Brewed an IPA today with a eBIAB setup. I did 2 things different - i didnt use a hop bag and kust put them in the wort directly and I used a new mash bag that has much finer holes. My element had a lot of black on it, it looked burnt. I didn't smell anything during the boil, but as it is...

    Ventilation question for eBIAB

To the OP - Can you share how this worked out for you? I'm looking at something very similar for the same situation you are in. Did this work out well for you? Thanks!

Voltage Drop - Can't get my eBIAB system to boil

Yup, I should have just tried it out! Though I am glad I went through the troubleshooting a bit, I think I solved some other things in the process and learned a few things from the thread.

Voltage Drop - Can't get my eBIAB system to boil

It is a 9 gallon kettle, so overkill for my 2.5 gallon batches, but I was trying to reuse what I had to minimize costs of switching to electric.

Voltage Drop - Can't get my eBIAB system to boil

Following up here, I did try a batch and was really surprised what a difference actual wort made. The boil was nice and rolling and worked well. I am not sure why it was so much less with just water, maybe the sugars helped retain the heat and slow down the heat loss? I appreciate...

120v 2000W, will a longer element or narrower pot inprove boil?

Are you seeing a weak boil with water or wort? I thought I had a pretty weak boil too when I was testing mine with water. When I tried a batch anyway, the boil looked a lot stronger with actual wort. I'm doing about the same - 2.5 gal batches on a 14 in wide pot with 2000w element. Other...

Voltage Drop - Can't get my eBIAB system to boil

Thanks everyone, appreciate all of the advice. Agree that there's not really much left to get out of it and based on both Rivenin's picture above and posts in the other posting for the 110v build it sounds like I should be ok, even with a weaker boil. One way to find out! Going to give it a...

Voltage Drop - Can't get my eBIAB system to boil

Yeah, am using that Auber SSR. The good news is that I've gotten the voltage drop down to be almost nothing -- ~3 volts from wall to element, which I think is reasonable. I just replaced my 14ga cord for the element with 12ga and that seemed to take care of it. The cord must have been...

Voltage Drop - Can't get my eBIAB system to boil

Everything in the box that would have either pump or element current flowing through it is using 12awg. I thought 14awg could handle up to 20amps of current ok for short periods of time? I know for safetly, continuous load should be 12awg, but thought 14awg still had the capacity - am I...
