    this just feels wrong/bottle bombs

I'm no expert but ... I've been making assorted brews with 2 cups +/- of sugar per gallon so perhaps the 8 cups of sugar RAINBOW recommends is for whole 4 gallons of brew that their entire bottle of extract makes. 8 cups of sugar per gallon would probably make for some exciting brew experiments...

What is your favorite yeast for soda ?

I'm a newbie to brewing soda (or anything else). I'd appreciate it if you could explain in a little more detail what you are talking about. I don't doubt what you say, I simply don't understand it. Thanks, Frank in AZ

What is your favorite yeast for soda ?

=== Hmmm ... isn't that strange ? We came to the opposite conclusion. Are you comparing it to SAFALE US-05 Dry Ale Yeast, or what ?

What is your favorite yeast for soda ?

We tried SAFALE US-05 Dry Ale Yeast on our last batch of herbal sodas. 1/2 tsp. yeast and 2 C. sugar-per-gallon of sodabrew. We liked it better than RedStar Champagne yeast and a LOT better than bread yeast <g>. The SAFALE imparted very little if any yeasty flavor, carbonated nicely in...

What is your favorite yeast for soda ?

I'd appreciate input from experienced brewers about their favorite brand/variety of yeast for soda ... and why it's a favorite. I'm a newbie so I don't really KNOW what I want, but among other features I'm seeking a yeast that imparts very little if any yeasty flavor to my sodabrews...

minimum amount of sugar for soda brewing ?

callmebruce, Let us know how or if the 4-tbls-of-sugar-per-gallon works out. We stayed up late mixing/bottling 9 different one litre batches of sodabrew last night. I think we may have dramatically shorted one bottle so in a few days I may have some experimental evidence on just how...

minimum amount of sugar for soda brewing ?

The links regarding volumes of co2 were interesting. Thanks. Can the co2 volume be measured in p.s.i. ? If so ... is there a simple/cheap gauge I can buy to measure the pressure in a plastic sodabrew bottle ? If co2 volume can't be measured in p.s.i. ... how do home brewers measure it ...

minimum amount of sugar for soda brewing ?

Thanks for the informative replies. Kevin said: "Lets say that soda is best around 3-4 volumes of CO2/liter, ..." What does this mean ?... or ... where can I learn what this means ? I'm a novice so please excuse my ignorance. Thanks, Frank in AZ

    yeast volume for Soda

I'm no expert but ... you might try LESS bakers yeast or better yet use ale yeast or champagne yeast. We got champagne yeast at a beerbrew supply store in Prescott. 1/2 tsp. yeast per gallon of 110 degree sodabrew has worked for us. We've gotten respectable carbonation and low/no yeast...

minimum amount of sugar for soda brewing ?

Hello all, My name is Frank. I'm new to the group and one month into home brewing soda. I've have good luck using recipes that call for 1-3/4 to 2-1/4 cups of sugar per gallon of brew using both bread yeast and champagne yeast. This is a bit too sweet for my taste. I'm wondering how little...
