You can do what I did and buy an elbow shank. You will need to lower one tap in relation to the other, but it is possible to fit two taps onto the 2.5" tower. Here is a picture of my setup. I'm pretty sure we have very similar kegerators. You can use the original tap assembly that...

    diy stirrer

jaimesbeam - you are correct that this ill be used for a magnetic stirrer. However, you wouldn't want to set a carboy on top of one of these. I think the largest size container most people use for magnetic stirrers are the 1 gallon jugs, also pretty common are 2000mL erlenmeyer flasks

Just cut the slots in the socket, when i got my first keg i couldn't get the posts off. I looked online for a special socket and decided to make my own. 6 bucks and 15 minutes later, all done with both posts removed.

IIPA infected, what to do now?

I don't think a filter would help an infection. IMO, there would still be a small amount of the bacteria still in the beer even after filtering. I hate to say it, but i think it has to go down the drain. Anything added that might kill the infection, will probably ruin the beer in the end...

    braid length?

If you are using a round 10 gallon cooler, than 5.5 inches would work out really well, however, if you have a square cooler than that is way too short. Not sure on the 50 mesh part.
