    Grain Mill motor torque Question/help

Thanks for all the responses. Everyone mentions running at the rpms I want. Which would be great if I had any way to know what the RPMs are. The variable control knob changes the rpms of the motor but I don't know what either the motor or the mill would be running at. putting the motor at...

    Grain Mill motor torque Question/help

At that low of RPMs the torque isn't enough to grind the grain.

    Grain Mill motor torque Question/help

I need some help figuring out my grain mill motor ratios. I have a treadmill motor. It doesn't say what the HP is for the motor on the sticker. Any way to find this out? Do I need this info to find out if I'll have enough torque? I have all the inards that went with it. It's variable...

    Wife needs advice please!

Your beer lines look to be about 4-5 feet. If you want a quick and easy fix to foaming then get lines that are double that length. Great job and good luck! Beautiful and handy - what a combo! Lucky guy.

Cake pan + skateboard wheel + bike brakes = homemade peristaltic pump??

Stealth is right, mine is just a large washer welded to the bike brakes.

All stainless (weld free & JB weld free) heatstick design on the cheap

First brew day using the stick was a success. Helped boil my wort in half the time. Thanks for the advice on air tight spaces and the silica is a great idea! I'll look into it.

All stainless (weld free & JB weld free) heatstick design on the cheap

Got it leak tested, wired, and tested working. I'll use it in my brew day tomorrow for a full brew test but it seems great! Here's some final pics. I drilled a hole in the top elbow for the ground plug, tightened it down with a machine screw and cut off the end that popped out the outside...

Cake pan + skateboard wheel + bike brakes = homemade peristaltic pump??

Spring form pan started bending and flexing causing the tube to not get fully closed. I used 70mm wheels, got em for $23 for 4 on ebay. I found some old ford truck drums (9 inches) for $9 for 2 (4.50 each) at a junk yard

All stainless (weld free & JB weld free) heatstick design on the cheap

So Coop sent me a tap he had at his shop so I could give the re-tapping a shot. Worked great! Took about 20 mins of back and forth turning, plenty of anti-seize paste and a good amount of muscle for the last couple turns but I think I"ve got a working product. Pics below! Obviously not...

Yeah I cut and JB welded them both.

    Ebrewery panel mounting

I had someone ask me about how I mounted my electric panel so I figured I'd write something up real quick. I store my brew rig on casters under my workbench (see below). With the rig on casters I didn't want to mount it to the wall and having the panel permanently attached posed a problem...

Cake pan + skateboard wheel + bike brakes = homemade peristaltic pump??

I tested flow rate when I first made it. Got 4-5 GPM comfortably and didn't want to push it any farther. I'm in the process of changing out the one tube (only thing that wears out). I'll see how it does with a stress test and see how far I can push it. I've only ever used it to pump about...

Cake pan + skateboard wheel + bike brakes = homemade peristaltic pump??

Reviving an old thread to show off some improvements. I love this design. Copied it about a year ago. First attempt failed because the spring form pan was too flexible and caused huge issues. Replaced pan with 9" brake drum from a junk yard off an old ford truck. It's powered by a tread...

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

I just got my monster mill about a month ago. I have it rigged so that the mill runs using the same treadmill motor that runs my home made peristaltic pump using v-belts for both.

All stainless (weld free & JB weld free) heatstick design on the cheap

Hey Coop, I just got my heating element and as expected it doesn't fit in the back. I'd love to borrow a tap to try to re-thread. Thanks for offering! It is indeed a standard 1" heating element. Like you said I think as long as the pitch is the same the gasket will prevent any leaks. Let me...

All stainless (weld free & JB weld free) heatstick design on the cheap

So I've been looking at making a heatstick to decrease my time to heat strike water and bring wort up to a boil. I'm not a huge fan of the "JB Weld it until it doesn't leak" mentality so I went searching for other options. I found a thread on HBT that uses tri-clamp fittings from a still...
