    Super Simple 15G Plastic Conical

I have two 15G fermenters that I assembled with silicone gaskets on the lid. They are not completely airtight but do hold some pressure- when I pressurize the conical with an air compressor to check the seal I get a visible expansion of the vessel, but I get no bubbles in...

    Philly Area Yeast Harvesters

I ferment in 15G poly conicals with tri-clover sight glass- the glass is pretty thick and there isn't any excess pressure in the conical as it is not that tight to begin with, and I have the conical vented through the thermowell going through the lid.

interesting journal article on organic hop cultivation

came across this when searching for cover crop info for a hop bed It doesn't go into great detail about cover crops but I think it's a an interesting overview of organic hop growing https://www.agronomy.org/publications/aj/articles/103/6/1645

Overcarbed Keg? Here's an INSTANT SOLUTION!

you are a genius... works perfectly! I simply turned my overcharged keg upside down and opened the tap for a minute or so... blew out a lot of foam and then just gas. turned the keg upright ... tossed one foamy pour and now pours perfect.

    Brett Beer Saison Brett

If you are using a refractometer for FG the final number needs to be recalculated to get the true FG. I used this calculator http://onebeer.net/refractometer.shtml given an OG reading of 1.056 (13.6 Brix) and a final reading of 1.027(6.7Brix) the true FG is 1.0087 and ABV is 6.12% hope...

Pannepot (Old Fisherman's Ale) Clone Thread

thanks.. I sometimes want to brew on the spur of the moment and dry yeast makes that more possible. If T-58 works well enough for high gravity belgian ales I could keep some on hand for a spontaneous brew day. My LHBS has the CSI D-45 and D-90 on the shelf, but has to order the D180 for me. I...

Oxygenate Wort- what PSI how long

I like where you are going with this- it could get you to a fixed volume and should conserve the O2 resources by containing it in the fermenter. My fermenters aren't sealed like a keg, but I tested them with compressed air and they sealed well enough to hold a few pounds of positive...

that's interesting... how do you know when it has reached equilibrium?

Oxygenate Wort- what PSI how long

I was thinking of that too... but gas is funny stuff to quantify. I think the pressure of the ballon walls may compress the gas a bit so your reading wouldn't be an accurate representation of the amount of O2 at atmospheric pressure, but if there was an error it would be on the side of...
