    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I bolted my chugger pump down to my brew cart (harbor freight furniture mover) took care of that problem. I’ve got a inlet, outlet, PID thermowell in a “T” fitting and a burp valve, all of which are valved and it doesn’t move one bit.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I went from a 3 vessel gas Rims system, and I don’t regret downsizing one bit. Once you get the AF system down I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. I haven’t noticed any major changes in my beers with the exception of efficiency in the very beginning. You’ll see a lot of guys on here (myself included) that...

placing temperature probe in liquid to improve keezer accuracy

I do similar, my new inkwell, I have put it into a capped copper tube that then goes into the water. I did this cause my old Rancho went out after a couple years being submerged in water, I even had it heat shrink wrapped as well.

    RIMS

Great idea with the element being killed when the pump isn’t on. I’ve toasted a few elements (some ruined my brew day) a few times when I first starting running my RIMS system. You’ll love the system.

    Ferm chamber set-up

I wish I had the room for a full sized fridge ferm chamber. You’re stoked on the new set up, looks great. You may want to consider taking the probe and taping it to the side of your bucket/carboy to get a better temp reading.

Why not sparge and squeeze? I think we’ve gotten to spoiled with this system as my old RIMS system and I’m sure yours was a bigger pain to sparge then the AF, haha! So my last brew I lifted the grain basket, sparged, and let it drip for a while, I then used a stainless plate to push down on the...

    Kegerator Inkbird Probe Placement

My Ranco controller went out (even after heat shrinking it) after a while when it was submersed directly in water so this time I figured I would try a ghetto thermowell to see how that works. If I had 1/4” copper on one of my jobs I would have used that instead.

    Kegerator Inkbird Probe Placement

I know my kegerator needs a cleaning..

    Kegerator Inkbird Probe Placement

I’ll grab it tomorrow. Nothing special. Just a 1/2” copper pipe with a cap soldered on inside a cup filled with water.

    Kegerator Inkbird Probe Placement

I’ve got mine in a thermowell that’s in water. I change the water whenever I remember too

    Closed transfer with beer gas

I’ve got CO2 but have this large bottle of beer gas for my old nitrogen handle (it’s on the fritz right now) so I rarely use it compared to my CO2. I use to use it to start my siphon a while ago, but it wasn’t a completely closed transfer

    Closed transfer with beer gas

I’ve got a large bottle of beer gas (75% nitrogen and 25% CO2) and was wondering if anybody has used this to do a closed transfer. I’m not a scientist by any means but I’m pretty sure nitrogen is an inert gas and should be fine. Thoughts?

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Yeah I’m def gonna clean it similar to that. I was sinuses to just moving my kettles and cleaning them off my brew stand it was just second nature to me. Will utilize the pump next brew for sure. I’m hindsight I should have waited for the system to get in prior to getting the hop spider but like...

What do you do with your spent grains?

I throw them in my canyon about 100 yards from my house, they’re usually gone within a few days. The rodents, rabbits, birds and coyotes make short work of them.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

So part of the reason I left it sit for 15 min was hearing how many issues people were having with stuck mashes, I would probably say 50% of those having issues are probably having it with their pump control and not necessarily the grain bill (my brew was a NEIPA and no issues), that being said...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I used a hop spider with this brew as well and at my 160° hop addition I had to hang the spider off the IC coil for full submersion. Yes the clean up was easy enough considering it was only two vessels but the kettle it a awkward to clean cause of the control panel. Not really a complaint but I...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Was able to brew this weekend on my 10.5 and what a great rig so far. I got the recirc kit but haven’t received it so I made a quick screen using stainless burner covers from Walmart that I drilled a bunch of holes in. Worked great, I also used a bag in the malt pipe and everything ran as it was...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

for under $20 it makes to much sense. I’ll eventually fabricate something that fits the needs exactly, but this will do for now. I need to raise my pump a tad though. That being said I need to raise both, the AF more as well. Even with my burp valve it was super hard to get my pump primed

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Just got mine in the mail today!! No dents and everything was there. Did a mock up of the system on a temporary stand (moving cart haha) and cleaned it and let the pump run for a while. My control panel from my old RIMS system was spot on with the AF temps, so that a great start. Everything did...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Yeah I’ve been brewing on my old RIMS system for a while and learned the pump a while ago. Hopefully it transfers over somewhat to this system. Excited to brew this weekend, feels like my first run all over again
