FS: Complete Home Brew System for Beginner or Intermediate Brewer (Seattle, WA)

Hi TaylorB - are you sure you're willing to pay for shipping to NY? This is not only a large amount of items, but also heavy and fragile (at least the carboys are). I would think that shipping may cost ~$100, which would decrease the overall value of this purchase for you versus a local...

FS: Complete Home Brew System for Beginner or Intermediate Brewer (Seattle, WA)

Yeah, he's an insistent little guy already! Congrats on your upcoming/impending new child! It's basically the time commitment required for brewing is tough with a child, especially since I have other hobbies that I prioritize higher than brewing. You'll also find that you need so much stuff...

FS: Complete Home Brew System for Beginner or Intermediate Brewer (Seattle, WA)

I'm selling my home brew system which I've only used twice. I purchased most of these items just last year, and my newborn is forcing this sale. I'm asking $275. Here's the list of items that are included and the price I paid for them new in 2011: * Super Deluxe Beer Making Equipment...

    Marking your carboy

Those calibration stickers are cool and I'm sure they're much faster than etching, but the etching just looks so damn cool!

Favorite place to buy extract kits?

Here's the link to the AHS $20 kits: http://www.austinhomebrew.com/index.php?cPath=178_452_638

Favorite place to buy extract kits?

It looks like AHS now has the $20 kits on sale, so check out their website for more info. As for shipping prices, this is all at the discretion of the company based on profit and loss. We can question it all we want, but at the end of the day as a consumer you have to make the decision that...

    Marking your carboy

This is genius! I use a label maker to mark the gallons, but this is a huge improvement.

    How would you go cheap?

Another thing I haven't seen mentioned here is to bottle instead of keg. While this may not be very popular due to the PITA it is to bottle, it can be cheaper if you're already drinking beers with pop tops that you can re-use when bottling. Or, I used to ask the bartender or waitress of the...

    Great Growler Find!

I do the same. And the Rock Bottom closest to me (Bellevue, WA) has an excellent beermaster that makes some really great beers. He's even agreed to give me yeast for home brewing if I needed it! Their growlers are the screw-top variety so they're not the greatest, but they are cheap!

How to make a yeast starter - Pictorial

I'm brewing a Pliny the Elder Clone this Friday and have two vials of White Labs 001 yeast for pitching. Should I still make a starter? If so, what's the recommended amount of DME I need to make a starter for two vials of 001?

Favorite place to buy extract kits?

Not to fork this thread, but if the reason they don't post the recipes is to avoid giving them to the competition, why do they give them out so easily if you call or email them? It seems like much of the competition is posting their kit ingredients, so it would be nice if AHS did the same...

Favorite place to buy extract kits?

This is a big advantage over AHS, since I also like to know what's in my kit before ordering it. Although I do like the optional alcohol boost that AHS offers. Not sure if Midwest offers that as well...

    Olympia WA Group Buy

I just want to say that you're awesome for doing this for all of us! I'm still an extract brewer living in Seattle, but if I was doing AG I'd definitely take you up on this. For now, I just wanted to thank you for the effort :)

    Bulk bottle caps

I'd be willing to bet that the price significantly increases a few minutes at the end of the auction, so these will definitely sell for more than $76 shipped.

    Bulk bottle caps

The problem is that shipping will cost you $66!

Favorite non-homebrew to buy to use to bottle

I used to drink a lot of Stone brews, but unfortunately they're horrible as homebrew bottles since they're screenprinted. I like the Sierra Nevada stubby's as well as their bombers, since the curve at the neck prevents the sediment at the bottom from pouring into the glass. For this...

    Beer as Art

These aren't my favorite beers, nor my homebrews, but I like the pics nonetheless: This was taken at "Art & Beer" in Cabo two weeks ago (the owner gave me this "road beer" but I figured it would be best not to take it on the road with me!)...
