    Fermentation periods

I do three weeks. No primary. I get a bad feeling about fermenting in plastic so I put my beer straight into the glass carboy and keep it there.

Ugh so done taking original gravities

Screw it. No OG, no FG either. 3 weeks in the fermenter and it's done. No primary fermenter either. They've all turned out. I like them and I'm going to drink them no matter what the readings are. I'm not selling them so the only person that needs to like them are me and whoever I give...

    My free fermentation chamber!

It's probably fine the way it is, but if you want to get anal, you could do a couple different things. First, you could just put some blankets on top. Second, you could go to Home Depot and buy some rigid foam insulation and cut it into squares. Both methods are cheap, but if I had to guess I...

    CO2 tank questions...

Regardless of the metals there should be a nylon washer where your regulator is screwed onto your CO2 tank (or a built in rubber ring).

    Natural Gas and Propane Hybrid

You can build a burner that works with both gasses. You won't have to swap any fittings if you build it right. I know they make boilers that run on either...

    chest freezer gasket

If you can feel the cold air coming out, then there has to be warm, moist air going in. Like Bobby M said, put some sealant on there as best you can.

    Dual Coil immersion chiller

But that also means he could up the flow rate and cool the wort down even faster. Just playing devil's advocate...

Does anyone have a hard plumbed water filter with a bypass?

That piping setup will work but you should really figure out what size filter you need. It looks like you drew in a 3"x6" filter but what if you need one 4' tall?

Does anyone have a hard plumbed water filter with a bypass?

You might want to contact Culligan or some other filter company and talk to them. If you want volume, you might need a big ass filter. They could tell you. As far as a bypass - If your piping is exposed then just have a bypass line put in with a couple valves. That shouldn't be a problem...

Does anyone have a hard plumbed water filter with a bypass?

Why don't you just buy one of those Brita filters that screws onto a faucet head? http://www.brita.com/products/faucet-filtration/

    Other hobbies besides homebrew..

mainly cars. I love reading about them, seeing them, driving them, even doing my own maintenance. I used to have a 94 integra (great car), now I drive a 350z. If my wife is scared I know I'm driving well. I also like tinkering around my house, pretty much with anything that needs fixed or...

I'm sorry but I just can't feel bad for you. Best way to not be afraid of the police is to not break the law.
