    New Holland White Hatter

I just had this beer last week and am blown away. Anyone have a recipe formulated for a beer like this. It's basically a belgian wit with citrusy hops. I'm going to start playing with some recipes but was wondering if anyone has already tried anything yet?

Tap Handles made with 3D printers

This is kind of a weird question but I figured I'd give it a shot. I work with a fairly small beer company that is looking to buy about 100 tap handles for their distributors to give out. Right now we have a different tap handle for two of the beers we make but we've recently begun making quite...

secondary fermentation in my whiskey barrel

I just brewed 10 gallons of Imperial brown ale. OG was 1.070 and after 2 weeks in primary it was down to my targeted 1.016. I racked half the beer into a secondary carboy and the other half into a freshly dumped 5 gallon oak whiskey barrel, I was not able to completely fill the barrel so I...

AHS Jack o Lantern and Pumkin ale

I just got AHS' newsletter today and see they have some kits for a Jack O' Lantern Porter and a Pumpkin Ale, but if you read through the limited recipe list, they both list Pumplkin (not included) What's up with that? Also, I've always been under the impression that right now would be too...

Austin Homebrew Supply Indian Brown Ale

Has anyone brewed this before? Since AHS doesn't post their recipes online I'm not going to post this either but, if anyone has brewed it I'd like your opinion on their hops schedule. I will say that the 5 gallon recipe only contains 2 oz of hops. 1oz of a high AA bittering hop and 1 oz of...

Drilling a hole in the side of my Kenmore

I was just given a 1997 Kenmore Coldspot model # 106. 67297790 and want to drill a hole in the side of it to allow the CO2 tubing to get inside the refridgerator. The tank itself (20#) is too tall to fit inside the refridgerator without making major adjustments to the shelves and in the process...

False bottom that fits 10 gallon Rubbermaid cooler and sanke?

So I'm in the process of upgrading my equipment to 10 gallon batches. I currently have a 9" false bottom for my 5 gallon Rubbermaid cooler. Right now, I plan on switching to a 10 gallon Rubbermaid cooler for my MT but may switch to using a sanke keg MT down the road. Does anyone know of a false...

    Lactobacillus 5335 starter

So I made a lacto 5335 starter a couple days ago. Thinking it was at too low of a temp I placed it on the heater last night, but when I woke up this morning the temp had risen to 140F. Did I kill the bacteria? Do I need to buy a new pack? Thanks.

    Berliner Weisse with Kolsch

I'm planning on brewing a Berliner Weisse this weekend using some ingredients I have in stock. I am not shooting for a true to style beer but I think this will get the job done. Just curious to see what people think. 4 lbs American 2-row 2.5 lbs White Wheat (American) .6 oz Tettnanger 5.1%...

    working with Lactobacillus

I'm working on brewing another Berliner Weisse and am running into conflicting info on when to add the Lactobacillus. It seems to be common knowledge to add it to secondary after the yeast has done it's job. But I'm also seeing some people say to add it 24-48 hours prior to adding the yeast. The...

    Munich Oktoberfest 2011

Well for Christmas my girlfriends parents told us they want to take us to Germany, and knowing that Oktoberfest in on my "to do" list they thought we should go in mid Sept. I've been to Munich before but I was only 17 and it wasn't during Oktoberfest. What are some "must do's" while I'm there...

Sanke fermenter with a ball valve??

Ok, so I recently was given a sanke keg and was all set to turn it into a keggle, I had drilled a hole in the bottom of it for a ball valve when I found two precut sanke keggles (shells only) on craigslist for $40 each. I bought both of them and have added weldless ball valves to both. So now I...

what to do with a working sanke keg

A friend of mine bought a house about 2 years ago, and in the garage was a sankey keg that he has done nothing with. I visited him last weekend and talked him into letting me have it. Upon inspection, the keg was about 15% full and still had pressure in it. The only date I see on the keg is from...

    Adding copper to the boil

Not sure if this is the correct category for this but I was reading the book "Brew Ware" by Stevens, and Mosher and they mentioned copper as being a yeast nutrient and suggested cutting a small peice of copper tubing and throwing it into your boil kettle with the wort. I guess this makes sense...

    New Glarus Golden Ale

I am attempting to brew a beer that is in the vicinity of New Glarus' Golden Ale. Since this beer is only available from the brewery itself I doubt I'll get much feedback on a recipe for it but I figured I'd fish around and see what I can get. So far, all I've found is that it is fermented with...
