From what I can see it's the price for Briess LME. I found online at a few places 1.5 Kg for +- 12.00$. So 9$ a kilo seems about right.

My thread was just about that I was having fun doing what I was doing and that the results were great to me. Nothing more and nothing less !

Can't say anything about kits since I haven't done them, I've seen some intresting kits from places in the states but shipping was always to high to Canada so I never went that route. I have been using the recipes in Palmer's book mostly and starting to modify some of them to my liking.

never done a kit in my life. Always got my extract in bulk, used some grain for steeping and hops. I'm happy with the results for now. I don't mind the bottles.

A little update on this situation, beer has been bottled and tonight I drank one. I am happy to say that I am not blind. The beer is actually amazing. Very happy with the results.

So today I pulled out my Ipa from secondary and noticed some mold inside the airlock. This is my 12th batch and first time this has happened. Should I worry? Beer smelled fine when I bottled. thanks for the input.

So tonight instead of using bottled water iced in the wort I used for the first time an ice bath to chill the 3 gallons of wort. Didn't expect it to be so efficient in less than 20 minutes it was at 85F. Really happy about it.

for the record, I am not using commercial ice. I buy bottled water and freeze it. Then I sanitized the outside of the bottle and cut the plastic so I can take the big 1 gallon ice cube and put it in the wort.
