Far too expensive long stuff storage

Yup, the pictures were post star-san in tube. Swished around with cap, and drained. I have the cap off and the whole pipe upside down (slanted) on a clean towel to dry. I may drill a couple holes in the screw cap (or buy a second one for dedicated drain/dry use)

Far too expensive long stuff storage

Ugh, and I have one sitting in the living room for Christmas, and it still didn't occur to me.

Far too expensive long stuff storage

I brew in the garage, the same place that has sawdust and grinding dust + spiders and general dirt. So I store most stuff inside, in plastic bins. I have a shoebox size plastic bins for kegerator plumbing parts, tap parts, O-rings and corney keg parts, etc. I have a white 20gal "Brute"...

    Kegerator shank plug

fair enough, I worry about general garage funk (grinding dust, carb cleaner overspray etc). I generally put the rubber covers over the unused spouts, but thought if I was down a spout or two for a length of time (get lazy, buy a commercial keg taking up the space of two cornys), a stainless...

    Kegerator shank plug

Quick question, when I'm not using all three taps, I'd prefer to keep the faucet off the kegerator where it can stay clean. That leaves the shank exposed or the hole in the fridge if I pull the shank. The kegerator is in the garage and means that either I pull the whole shank faucet combo and...

5gal biab, in 2/3 cut coors keggle

I got a valve, and the greenlee punch this week, still waiting on a diptube (ordered). For handles I bought some stainless u-bolts, but haven't had a chance to install them. Will update when I do. Been a busy couple months, project has been on hold - been having to drink commercial beer :)

5gal biab, in 2/3 cut coors keggle

Already hit the edges with the flap wheel, you can drag your finger around the edge without cutting. Yes I'll probably add a handle or two. Life got in the way, and my wife had an accident, so I've been dealing with that, but I've been looking at some handles. Finding a non-china made...

    Doh! Bleach corrodes stainless

I'm sure this is old hat to most of you folks, but maybe someone can learn from my mistake. The kegerator sits in the garage, and is used most days, but goes some days without use when I go out of town. Invariably, I wouldn't clean out my drip tray for a couple weeks and the beer drippings...

5gal biab, in 2/3 cut coors keggle

Wilserbrewer, just ordered the grand slam referencing the above measurements.

5gal biab, in 2/3 cut coors keggle

So it took me two months, but I finally had some time to cut the top collar off the coors keg per wilserbrewer's suggestion. Found a lid at the goodwill that fit perfectly. pics:

Recipe and technique request, first time BIAB in propane fired keggle

Thank you both, I'm glad I'm over-thinking this. So far beer making seems to be very forgiving, I just get befuddled by all the technique variations. Awesome Good news, I won't be rinsing, at least not the first time round. Even better news That's perfect, sounds like an easy first brew...

Recipe and technique request, first time BIAB in propane fired keggle

This might be overly relying on help without enough education, but I want to do my first BIAB as I'd like to graduate from extract kits. If this is too much of an ask, I'd appreciate links and guidance to figure everything out. Most people seem to say that after the 60min mash, the keggle and...

Water Report Google Map - Add Your Info!

OK, I drew the rough boundaries and linked the municipal water report. If/when I run a actual sample from my tap, I'll drop a pin with the info.

Water Report Google Map - Add Your Info!

Late to the party, but I'm happy to help. I can draw the boundaries for Salem, OR, and I know how to add the pins. For info, do I need to send a sample of my tap water out, or can I just post the city water report details? Salem's water report It's mostly about solids and baddies, no pH or...

5gal biab, in 2/3 cut coors keggle

So I tried the pneumatic body saw, and it is a terrible idea. Got around 1/4 of the circle, and broke or burned up three quality bi-metal bahco blades. So then I went the standard route of the 4.5" angle grinder (Metabo, fantastic grinders) that I've done on AB kegs. My jig on the AB kegs...

5gal biab, in 2/3 cut coors keggle

Just spitballing, but if i cut all the way up there, there's little difference in volume from the traditional top circle cut. Pro: - No lip - wider access to put bag in/out - less bag material needed to fold over top rim since you don't need bag over the skirt - more room to contain possible...

OT: Do commercial breweries remove the keg spear to clean?

I should totally volunteer at a brewery, I didn't know that was something you could do. I know (kind of) one of the owners of a small local brewery, I should ask him about that. Back on topic, under what circumstance would they pull the spear though? If under fill there was a leak, or say, if...

5gal biab, in 2/3 cut coors keggle

I'm eventually going to go electric and I'm saving my nice bud keggle for that. Unfortunately the bud keggle is too wide in diameter to fit inside the ring of my propane burner. I got an old coors keg (potbelly), that fits the burner perfectly though. Downside to the coors keg, is if I cut...

OT: Do commercial breweries remove the keg spear to clean?

I got an old dented keg as part of a bulk craigslist homebrew supply purchase. I depressurized and removed the spear just to see what was involved. Because of all the dents, this will not become a keggle, so I reassembled, and I'll probably just trade it as a deposit on my next commercial beer...
