Advice on packing wine in suitcase...

Those 'wine diapers' should work fine for a few bottles per suitcase. If you end up wanting to get more wine the wineries should have some decent packing options for a separate checked bag or should be at least able to direct you where to get some in town. I've check six bottles in a...

    DIY Pint Glass Etching

You could also try using regular paper. They say you can use 84 brightness 20lb paper (or less) and expose it for 3 minutes. Exposure Times / Tips: http://www.cbridge.com/products/stencilproexposuretimes.shtml Transparencies seems to be the recommended product and I had some available so...

Good point. You really should stick some sort of solid material on the back so no light gets through to the backside which will set up the entire thing. The velvet is more to prevent light from reflecting off of the backplane. This is probably the problem.

You do have a layer of solid black directly behind the stencil so it isn't getting light from behind? I'm pretty close to sea level and UV radiation does increases about 5% with every 1000' of elevation gained. I think the problem might be the acrylic...

rv6tc, Is the stencil and stencil pro material pressed together tightly? What I did was I carried the stencil apparatus outside covered in a towel, removed the towel for 20 seconds, and then covered it back up. I then carried it inside and tossed it into a bowl of water for ten minutes...

Let's talk about Foam Control drops (aka Fermcap)

How far up the sides are people filling carboys when using Fermcap S? I did a three gallon IPA batch in a three gallon carboy (the three gallon mark on mine is right where it starts to taper at the top) and got some blowoff after adding Fermcap s drops. I'm not surprised it had some...

    DIY Pint Glass Etching

I'm traveling for work right now but I'll give the mark on the bottom of the glass a try when I get home in a couple weeks. I'll also post a picture of the first thirteen that have been done so far. :mug:

This stencil material says it can be used 15 - 20 times with sand blasting: http://www.etchworld.com/ecom-catshow/overnover.html The StencilPro stuff I used wouldn't work though. It would be blasted to shreds.

It is just slightly rough. I did read that the if you etch plates you should do the underside so that it isn't in contact with food since there is the chance of it staining. I may have to try a white paint on one to see what happens. Anyone know of one that is made to be absorbed by glass?

Correct. I didn't really notice a shiny side with my StencilPro sheets and there wasn't a stuck on backing like the instructions showed. If you have a shiny side I would put it down against the velvet. The shiny side should stick better to the glasses. Stencil Pro glass etching...

The etching cream doesn't damage the stencil so you can use it over and over. I just made two of the the logo and jersey so I could do more glasses at once. Craft stores may have the etching cream but I found it was pretty expensive around town. Joann Fabric's around me didn't carry it the...

I don't know about paints. The nice thing about etching the glass with acid is that it isn't something that will come off in the dishwasher. Let us know if you find something.

Next you just tape the logo on to your glass making sure it's exactly where you want it and that it's sitting tight to the glass. Then brush on the etching cream: Put it on thick and move it around every so often for ten minutes. When done scrape excess cream back into the container...

    DIY Pint Glass Etching

Inspired by the carboy etching thread I decided to make some custom etched pint glasses. We're going to be having a month long party for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa this summer so we needed pint glasses. Custom individualized pint glasses. Lots of them. I cleaned out two Dollar Tree...
