    2 rancid batches

I just cracked open a bottle of a batch of Brown that was 27 days in primary. In fact it was "no chill" and I just dumped the entire boil kettle into the bucket and let it slowly cool. Turned out amazing.

    Harvesting Sweetwater IPA.

Just a quick update on this. I bottled the beer on Monday 10/8 and put two in the fridge this morning that I will try tomorrow night. Will post a pic of my "no chill" harvested yeast Brown Ale then.

Even if PA allowed 350/yr you would be way over the federal limit of 100/yr per person or 200/yr per household of two or more persons. I suspect PA law mirrors this. http://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/27/25.205

Soldering irons are not designed to run continuously. For safety I would recommend using a different heat source.

Checked gravity tonight. 1.014 right where it should be. Tastes and smells awesome. Little bit of hops floating around as I just dumped the whole boil kettle into the fermentor.

Help me want to keep brewing

I do not believe this to be the case. The only folks currently recommending "secondary" are folks that do it because that is the way they have always done it, folks that have only read 20 year old books, folks that make money selling equipment, etc. Even Palmer and Jamil have revised their...

    StarSan questions

You are quoting me and you need to reread my post(s) very slowly. Please point out where I said "stupid" or "idiot". Hell, I would challenge you to find a post of mine on ANY forum where I have insulted anyone. I have questioned people's reading comprehension skills though.

    Yeast Fermentation Temperatures?

A Google search for "muntons ale yeast temperature range" gives "The recommend fermentation temperature range is 64-70°F. " I would recommend the low side.

    Harvesting Sweetwater IPA.

Thank you. It has been fun. I hope to freeze some of the yeast. I will be taking a gravity reading tonight. I am hoping to bottle this weekend....I know I should leave it longer but this is the only time I have for a while and the pipeline is empty.

    StarSan questions

And this is the main take away point. "Your" water may be completely contaminate free but the next guys may not. When advise is given that we need to rinse out the StarSan or that the foam is somehow bad then the guy that takes that advise and rinses out with contaminated water we will be...

That is an oxygen based CLEANER. It is NOT a sanitizer.

That is the problem though. YOU....YOU have had no issues. What about the next guy who does have issues with his water and follows your advise?

    StarSan questions

If you are just going to rinse it off, why use StarSan?

    StarSan questions

No. The wort will deactivate the sanitizing properties of the StarSan. Which is why you can add wort directly to a wet fermentor. Listen to the pod cast or do some reading....Or just use bleach.
