I have always used the auto water inlet, but my B20 typically draws too much water even after calibrating. A lot of the early B20s would have the mash tun overflow and I suspect this was because there was too much water being let in. A lot of my early B20 recipes would have super low...

Just a small update, two flawless brews with my B+ in the past 3 weeks. My ebay B20 (just like my 3 prior B20s) continues to struggle with overshooting water volumes. I think the weight sensors in the original B20 were a poor design. I will keep it as a backup for spare parts if anything...

Hehe, well I have both. They sit next to each other and I do press one button to dump into the vessi. Ferment and then pressure transfer to corny kegs. No lifting, it’s pretty great.

Your black wires are fine. Just cut back that one that has some extra heat until you get clean wire. Tape the full ends with silicone tape and they are the same as the “upgraded” white wires. Way back when brewie took my advice and started using silicone tape instead of those terrible plastic...

Yup. SSR from grainger was me, but they are easy to come by. Boil heater should be easy to trouble shoot. I doubt it’s the heater itself but the connections or the SSR or the fuse.

That is the first B+ I have seen with the upgraded wires and silicone end coverings from the factory. Unfortunately they used the same bad adhesive that they used on prior versions. They would have been better off using nothing. I would suggest unhooking the wires and use an exacto knife or some...

Nate, I'm going to guess one of the wires got unplugged while you were rooting around fixing things. This has happened to me a few times. The pump wires have simple connectors that can easily unplug, and there are several connections over near the water inlets that can get pulled out when you...

Yes. It is quite thick and you need a good drill bit. There is a ventilation opening where it is designed to line up with the wires of the heater. I drilled mine into that spot like Ironcyberia did. Also need some small gauge wire to extend the fan wires to the power supply because the lead...

Yes. Pull off the plastic that comes on the spade connectors and then wrap with silicone tape. You need to drill a hole in the plate and I secured with a screw and locknut.

Here is a link to the fan: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/nmb-technologies-corporation/1606KL-04W-B50-L00/P12817-ND/740174 If the link doesn't work, search for 1606KL-04W-B50-L00 I only do the muffin fan on the boil side, but I do replace the spade connections on the mash tun...

The muffin fan was a digi key order for me. I couldn’t find one with a low enough draw at any computer store. The temp switch is also a special order item. The wires, connectors and silicone tape can all be sourced at Home Depot. Pull the existing wires and head there and replicate.

Based on the pics I would say it is safe to assume the wires and thermal cutoff switch are dead. I still think the heater is fine but this will be a trial and error process. I would replace the wires only and bypass the cutoff switch and test the heater with water in the tank. Then I would wire...

I doubt it is the heaters. They are just ceramic heaters. My bet is on the wires and spade connectors.

You will need to open it up and check the wires. My eBay B20 had pristine connections and then only after a few trials and one brew the connectors were becoming discolored. The one connection to the thermal switch wasn’t even on properly, so that could be a problem, it may have come off. Then...

If I remember correctly the reading is a live reading for 3.0. In 3.1.2 developer mode you can set a target temp.

Good deal. Just transfer to the boil side and run the heater. Hit the hop valves when you hit a boil and recirculate on the boil side. Close the mash tun valves.

Congrats. Hopefully you can figure it out to finish the brew! Only run one heater at a time or it will pop the fuse!
