Ok, I need to settle this.

Do the Germans prefer to drink warm beer? I don't know how many times I hear it from people. Do they tend to drink it warmer than Americans and BMC? I have guys telling me they Germans are drinking like 70-80 degree beer. Please tell me this is yet another misconception propagated by ignorant...

    Tannin extraction?

On an earlier post I explained how I determined my boil off rate to be 1 gallon per half hour. My first all grain batch will have a 10 pound malt bill. So my question is if I am doing a Batch sparge and a 90 min boil at what point do I worry about tannin extraction. Should I do two sparges and...

    Boil off rate?

I posted this in another section maybe this section was more appropriate. I just did a water only boil to check my boil off rate on my new 15 gallon Polarware. All I gotta say is Holy Boil Off Batman!!! 3 gallons in 90 min. Is this normal? I was expecting 1.5 to 2 gallons but 3, wow. Please tell...

    Stepping up a starter.

Can a starter be stepped up in the same 2L flask? Or do you have to move to a larger volume flask? I am trying to grasp the starter step up concept and I am hoping there are easier ways than moving up to a 4L flask.

Euro vs. American hops of same name?

Does anyone have experience using both a European hop and an American version? Examples like Saaz, Tettnang, Goldings etc. Are the differences very pronounced in aroma or flavor?

Finally buying an all grain boil kettle.

Any reason why I shouldn't go with the 15 gallon polarware? From all I have read 15 gallon is the right size pot for the eventual plunge into 10 gallon batches. I just don't want to spend 100 dollars more on the blichmann. Are there any major problems people are having with their polarware...

How long will beer keep in keeged?

Since I am the only one who drinks my beer most of the time. I was wondering how long I could keep my beer if I kegged? The kegs would be in the kegerator of course. Would there be any staling issues after say 2-3 months?

    Fermentation temps.

Hello all. Having decided that to get the best beer possible I need to control my fermentation temps I bought a chest freezer and temp controller. My question is is that when we talk of temperature are we talking ambient air or the fermenting beers temp?

    Mead still tastes bad.

Hello all, I started a mead 14Nov2009. It has been eight months and it is still undrinkable based on my my hydrometer samples. Four weeks ago it finally started to clear. It did ferment out more than I thought, from 1.120 to .998 so maybe this has something to to do with it. Should I keep...

I am still a bottle primer. For those who still are and those who have been, what is the maximum safe amount of priming sugar you have added to your bottles? I want to try a teaspoon and a quarter for 22 oz bottles and half that for 12 ouncers.

    Extract and trub.

Simple question. Does extract have a lot of trub like you would have in all grain brewing? I just hope the "trub" at the bottom of my fermenter is not undesolved extract.

    Stinkyweizen

Do Hefeweizens nomally have a somewhat unpleasent aroma during fementation? I have sniffed the airlock and it is not like my IPA right next to it. I know they are different beers but that Heff just isn't very nice.
