    New Brew System Sanity check.

Yep, you're right, I had a bit of a brain fart. I will be using 15.5gallon kegs. If I couldn't find any ethical ones I would be going with lawson kegs, they are a bit of a drive, but I don't mind that. I have a bunch of 30l kegs I plan to use for fermenters (from businesses that went bankrupt...

    New Brew System Sanity check.

The old setup ran off of the 30a 8-3 dryer plug (previous owner had the washer and dryer in the kitchen). I will be adding a similar plug of the new one. All my previous batches where inside and the vent hood and the front door open a smidg (for the heat) handled it just fine. The vent was on...

Trying to get back into the hobby

I was doing 20l batches BIAB but using the kitchen counter, so I had to clean and put everything away in the afternoon so I could cook dinner. Sins the new setup will be plumbed right in I expect the time it takes me to clean will be about the same, but I won't have to put any equipment away...

    New Brew System Sanity check.

I didn't really see it as re-inventing the wheal, the point of a HLT is to pre-heat water and act as a heat exchanger in a HERMS system. That smaller sealed vessel works the same. My day job involves hydraulics, electrical and electronics. So I'm not too fussed about my ability to build any...

Hmm, well, I guess I'll keep working on this on my own. If I can make the system work efficiently maybe it'll be useful for other people too.

Trying to get back into the hobby

I'm self employed, so it's probably better for me to do it over one day. What's a four vessel system? I couldn't find a good diagram for it. My old system was still all grain, but brew in a bag using a large pot with a 4500w element. New system is sort of like a HERMS, but using a small...

    Custom Kegerator

I figured I should show off the kegerator I built a couple years ago. My old one was built out of a chest freezer and it died, so I decided this one needed to be done right. As it turns out Second City in Toronto was shutting down (they have a new venue now) and I managed to buy up all three...

    New Brew System Sanity check.

I have a rather limited amount of space I can dedicate to brewing in my kitchen. Specifically the 24x40" top of my new DIY kegerator. I will of course be going all electric (it's all I've ever done) and eventually automating a bunch of it, though initially the valves will just be controlled with...

Trying to get back into the hobby

I've bean brewing off and on for ages, but I haven't done any in a couple years.. My work and day to day life just got too stressful for me to really enjoy it. Especially the setup, cleaning, and take down when I didn't have a dedicated space for it. But I think I finally have the time to...
