    Maple Poter

So, Last night we were out walking around a local fair and I came across a vendor selling maple syrup, but his were aged in rum and bourbon barrels. I couldn't help but think about making a beer with one so I bought the rum aged one (which we sampled and was awesome) and now I'm stuck on...

A question about sparging and grainbed

Hey, depends on if you batch sparge or fly sparge. I batch sparge by taking the first running (letting the mash tun run dry) then add about half of the water I'm going to finish collecting, stir, wait 10 mins, vorloff and collect. Repeat that with the remaining water to get enough to...

Found a deal on spa panel

Quick opdate on the one I received. I installed it yesterday with an electrician friend of mine and it wouldn't stay set once we put power to the breaker. It kept on tripping the GFI. My friend took the breaker out of the panel and "bad" was written on the side of the breaker. The fact that...

I am starting an electric build and I wanted to use custom written software for arduino with an android tablet controlling it. This seems like a perfect solution for both. Once they are available I'll probably order one and...

    Yeast starter gravity

Dumb question but I just wanted some reassurance that I'm ok. I brewed an IPA yesterday and had some extra liquid in the mash tun so I pulled it and froze it to make a starter with. I saved 2 liters and split them into batches. My question is that from looking at the yeast starter guide the...

    Measuring pre-boil gravity

Once you know what your pre-boil gravity is and what pre-boil volume you collected you can accurately predict your OG. Using ((pre-boil gravity-1) * 1000 * pre-boil vloume)/post boil volume. For instance, if your prebiol gravity was 1.040 and you had 8 gallons collected, your original gravity...
