What I did for beer today

I bottled 2 batches of beer today. An Amber Ale and a Cream Ale. Getting set for patio season!

How do you clean your bottles?

I just rinse the bottles a few times immediately after pouring, and turn them upside down to dry before storing them away. When I bottle I just give them a quick rinse, then a shot of Starsan, and that's it. Maybe I am not thorough enough, but I've never had a problem with contamination...

First Time Adding Priming Sugar to Bottling Bucket

Don't worry about it - that's normal. It's just the CO2 burning your nose!

    Newb brewer , Toronto

Both places are great, but I tend to go to the Guelph store - I actually live in Georgetown (I wrote Toronto in my profile because nobody outside of Ontario would know where that is!), but I hate driving into Toronto so I usually go to KJ Brewing Supplies in Guelph. Great staff, and if you...

    Newb brewer , Toronto

Welcome to the forum! And yes, hopefully I can help you out as a fellow Ontario brewer. https://torontobrewing.ca/ - is definitely really good and very well supplied. If you're close, their retail store is worth a visit. Craft Brewing - I've also ordered a lot from these guys. Their...

    Premature Dry Hop

Just an update on this condundrum in case this thread is searched in the future with the same problem. I just sampled the finished beer, and it is really quite good. No harm, no foul. I screwed up the dry hop, but good beer emerged nonetheless!

No activity in airlock, but there is Krausen

Hmm. Well, if there is no obvious leaks, you're probably fine. I have had this situation before as well when I just couldn't figure out why there were no bubbles, but the beers turned out fine. Sometimes fermentation just has a mind of its own! LOL

    Brewers Best Holiday Ale

I think the Brewer's Best kits assume you won't be going out to buy extra equipment (bags) for this, so you should be fine to just add the spice directly.

No activity in airlock, but there is Krausen

I just had a similar situation - no bubbles, but things seemed to be happening. Then I noticed there wasn't that much water in the airlock, which meant the C02 was likely releasing without showing any bubbles. I filled the airlock to the proper level and alas, there were bubbles! Not sure if...

    AIO Warranties

@Whisky River - I did go back and read your post on the G4 - thanks for that. I think you have me changing my mind and now leaning toward the Grainfather. I see it is on sale at my local hombebrew shop. Tempting....

    AIO Warranties

Yes, I have looked at the Grainfather. It's been a back-and-forth call on which system to buy, but I was leaning Brewzilla because I wasn't sure if the extra $300 for the Grainfather was worth it. But, from someone who uses both, your post is very helpful. Thank you. I may reconsider...

    AIO Warranties

Well, the price difference in my neck of the woods is about $400. But, you're right - I guess it's not a huge purchase and shouldn't worry too much about it, but, I'm also a bit curious as to why the Brewzilla doesn't offer much of a warranty.
