Folks on Backyardchickens say that Raccoons can get through chicken wire. The chicken wire should be buried in the ground also. As soon as I can find the time, I'm going to build a coop. I'm planning on getting four chickens and two guinea fowl. They say guineas make good watchdogs for predators.

OG was 1.060. Maybe I'll call it Kolsch-45. The room I ferment in is about 60° so that should slow the fermenting down a little.

I won't know the OG until I chill it. I figure it might be a little on the high side for a summer but that's ok with me.

I had the lid blow off the fermentor, turned upside down and dumped the airlock water into my beer. That batch has been in the bottle 3 weeks and it tastes great. I don't know if it made a difference but, I always put a little starsan in with the airlock water.
