    Cider in Beer Smith

I have the same question. What I find strange is that a Cyser is included in the list of available styles, but yet no apple cider i included in the list of available ingredients/extracts/misc.

    Hoppy Oatmeal Stout Recipe Help

I've been trying to get more into partial mashes myself, and just brewed up something last weekend that was very similar to this. I can't remember where I found it (probably from somewhere on this site), but there's a very handy .pdf out there that explains converting extract to grain and vice...

    Overshot mash temp question

fyi, (and sorry to totally hijack this thread), but i just cracked open the first of this batch, and it seemed to turn out ok. Actually pretty darn happy with it being my first partial mash.

    Overshot mash temp question

I just had a similar experience - first time trying BIAB (well, first time mashing anything really), and I had the same thing happen to me - the thermometer in the mash seems to get insulated by the grains. My temp dropped a bit when I added the gains, so I kept turning up the heat... waited a...

    Stop using Irish Moss!!!

Not that I'm buying into, or discrediting this claim, but the argument that 'this is only seaweed' doesn't mean squat. I mean, mushrooms are only mushrooms too, right? But most of them are poisonous if consumed.

    brewers best bold series questions?

I've got the Imperial Blonde in bottles, trying to carb up right now. It came with 1.5 oz of Brewers Gold bittering (9.7% aau), 1oz of Argentine Cascade flavoring (3.2% aau), and 0.5 oz of Cascade aroma (7.5% aau). It was also one of the most expensive kits (for what you get) that I have...

nope, had it going for 2 months, and it never got any lower. But, it is getting tastier with time. Had one last night. The spices really come through.

    New Brewer's Best kits

I am just finishing up one of their Imperial Blonde's and noticed the late-extract addition too, except to me it seems they have it backwards. Their instructions have you adding the DME late, not the LME. I also can't find an estimated F.G. number anywhere on the sheet - they list an O.G...

Is Revvy ready for all the new Christmas brewers?

it's been a week since xmas.... let the 'is my beer ruined' threads and the Revvy consoling begin.

Need to know the scoop on a full boil

doing a full boil from an extract kit that expects a 2.5-3 gallon boil is going to over-utilize the hops and give you a more bitter than expected beer. Not knowing the bittering units, but 4oz of hops in a 5 gal batch is going to be a bit on the bitter side.... but maybe that's what you were after.

Suicide Blonde label - concept to completion

it's a stylized look..... and i have one word for it - Hot. looks great.

Out of range OG on RIS from BB

yes, I have found Brewer's Best kits to be notoriously low on the REAL O.G. of all their kits. Their stated gravities are very optimistic (both O.G and F.G). to the OP, my first B.B. kit, their Classic English Pale Ale, measured out at 1.034. I attribute this to both a mixing issue and that...

my mead sucks - need help

yeah, i tried a blackberry mead for my first attempt at mead. 6 months later, it's not great - not horrible though. A little more than 5 pounds of honey for a 2 gallon batch, with 4 pounds of frozen/crushed blackberries. Ended up as a semi-dry, slightly tart blackberry scented/flavoured red...
