Video consoles: What should I buy, I'm bored.

Started gaming with an Intellivision II. I think (read: hope) my parents still have it in their garage somewhere. I love my consoles but they only see use when I'm deployed. I have a desktop and laptop rig that handle my current gaming needs. Tried getting into games on my iPad but few of them...

I like this time at night on HBT

Ohh yeah. I remember Abercrombie from when I lived on Oahu (95-03). Been living in/near Seattle for the most part since then. I only recently returned to da a'ina a few months ago when I was coming back from a deployment (do NOT get me started on "red lines") and I saw that freeway construction...

    Shipping mead restrictions?

You can always ship Ground if you're worried about pressure changes. I'm pretty sure that's the primary concern at USPS since a lot of mail is sent via air.

    Need a brewing kettle.. suggestions?

I've been using Bayou's 20gal pot for the last few months and love it! It's definitely big enough for large batches (10g) or big beers (barleywine). Combine it with Wilserbrewer's bags and you're good to go. http://goo.gl/6f9Mak

    Kettle insulation for mash

Outstanding work! I've been using nylon straps and towels (with a sleeping bag on top during Seattle winters), but I like your idea more. I may go with some velcro strapping to make it even easier!

    Kit selection

I'll probably stick with the Eclipse series. SWMBO doesn't often drink wine so I want to make sure that when she does, she's drinking something of quality. I'm definitely looking forward to expanding my fermenting to wines after making beer and mead! I hope that we don't move in the next few...

    Kit selection

Thanks! I just ordered the Eclipse Riesling and the chocolate-orange port kits (one for her, one for me) so they should be there by the time I get home.

    Kit selection

Aloha, I'm coming back from a deployment and SWMBO has decreed that I shall make her wine. She loves moscato, so I was looking at the Vintner's Reserve California Muscat as well as the Eclipse Columbia Valley Riesling. Reading the boards, I don't think I can go wrong with either kit, but I...

    Deployment Mead

Yep, it'll be fine. Just before I left for a year in Afghanistan, I made about 8 beers and 4 meads. The wife was willing to babysit the airlocks, so I used a mix of glycerin and water in some, rotgut vodka from base in others (don't drink it; I swear it's a carbon group short of kerosene). The...

    RedHook Winterhook

Pyramid Snow Cap has always been one of my favorites, but I too am disappointed with this year's edition. That and the ridiculous new label. I'm going to Seattle tomorrow, so I might stop by and see what they changed (if anything, I may just have a bad case).

    Ever grow your own Tobacco?

My friend wanted to see if tossing a Cuban into the secondary of his IPA would affect the flavor (he wanted the smokiness of the maduro). We drank it three weeks later and I couldn't feel my legs after two or three. the flavor wasn't there, but the nicotine sure as heck was!
