Portable keg cooler for wedding reception

I’m experimenting with plastic growlers, for tailgating at the games. Glass, kegs, bottles are not allowed. A couple buddies said a cooler of ice and your growlers. The beer will be gone in about 3 hours.

Am I the only one who enjoys bottling?

Oxi clean powder, One plastic scoop and cold water and the labels pretty much start coming off the bottles in about an hour.

    Which beer bottles you use?

I found a company to send me out 6 plastic growlers. I am experimenting and hope to be able to bring them to Baseball and Football games to tailgate with. Glass is not allowing in the parking area and tailgating. I know canning would be easier but I don't have room for a can sealer in the garage.

    Over-carbonated beer

I don‘t know I’ve never taken a Chemistry of Physics. i though there was a reason being most beer is filled an inch below the cap.

    Over-carbonated beer

I also noticed I was over filling my bottles a bit. Only leaving about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch instead of the standard 1 inch.

    What are you drinking now?

I found the LA Monde at Costco for 12 bucks for a 6 pack of assorted bottles. My bad I should have purchased a case! It was incredible.

    Over-carbonated beer

Would you explain it like a volcano spewing out lava? I have had a couple volcano bottles. I thought I was over filling the bottles. My buddy's are my test tasters. We have had 4 volcano bottles in The last 6 cases. My buddy had one put the bottle on the counter to text me and drank the 1/2...

    Filtering

A brewer buddy gave me a good idea. He said to put a sanitized hop bag over the drain hose. Hold the drain hose down by the hop bag.

    Filtering

Thanks. I don’t have any more room to keg until my space is ready. Probably by mid Summer. I’m a garage brewer for now.

    Filtering

Thanks. I would boil my wort, cool it, Then put it in the fermenter. Using the valve and a plastic tube and let it fill. When it got down the near the bottom I made sure I wasn't sucking up sediment from the bottom. On Bottling day I would use a strainer you would use to take ravioli out of...

    Filtering

I have had sediment in my carboy. So the bottles have sediment at the bottom. I though of pouring the beer through a filter before bottling. Would this be the idea time to filter. I just personally like a clear beer without sediment.

Infection in a bottle -- musings and what if's

My first batch of Amber Ale. First 36 bottles excellent. Bottles 37 to 48 were volcano. I thought it was due to sucking too much of the muck at the bottom of the fermenter. Now I added a new step where I filter the whole 5 gallons before bottling .

    How do you pasteurize beer?

Watch Smokey And The Bandit. They were bootlegging Coors.

What is your strangest brew day mishap?

My first home brew. A brown IPA Extract clone. My first 12 bottles were perfect. My second 12 bottles, ummm. I had to run to the bathroom #1 and told my wife just use the wand and fill the bottles to about an inch below the cap line. The bottling wand hit some sediment and made it into the...
