Does dry hopping with yeast in suspension actually reduce hop aroma?

I routinely add 2g AA to the mash and 1g to the keg at packaging with only positive effect. I haven't bothered at dry hop. One note: adding it to the mash does affect mash ph and Brewfather at least doesn't seem to take it into account for calculating mash ph. I plan on a decrease of around...

Helios Hops: Stop Me Before It's Too Late

Haven't used this hop but have learned to trust my nose on some of those less desirable aromas. Maybe dry hop Bud Light with a few pellets to see what you think before doing a bigger brew?

    El Dorado Pale Ale

This looks good to me as-is, but I might tweak it a little given that you'd like to minimize perceived bitterness. Specifically, you might flip your sulfate to chloride ratio and lean into a more "hazy" experience (you've already got the oats!). If you're trying to finish a bag of hops, that...

Alternative to Bulky Corny for Pumping Sanitizer, PBW Through Beer Line?

I've been using this one, similar to above. Transfers the squeeze part of the operation away from the bottle: https://www.morebeer.com/products/ball-lock-line-cleaning-kit-mini-party-pump.html

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

I understand that this is a pretty common issue for several all-in-one systems. For me, I've found that stirring the mash regularly and doing some amount of recirculating helps to keep the temperature consistent throughout the mash.

I do this with the neoprene jacket. As long as you're OK with slightly extended heating time and a gentle boil it works out.

    Stuck Mash

The force needed depends on your crush, with finer crushes being more force to turn. What I meant above though, was that I didn't know if holding a drill in place for a few minutes would be ok for your shoulders. Sounds like yes? The drill I use is just the same one I've had around for 10-15...

    Stuck Mash

I use a Barley Crusher, which was relatively cheap (used on craigslist). I use a screw gun/drill from the woodshop with it if I don't feel like using the hand crank. This solution works fine for me, don't know if it would work with your shoulder situation. I also use the brewzilla and have...

How do you attach your elbow? Slip it over tubing or something more elegant?

I might run a little rinse through the pump too, depending on what I was brewing. Probably not necessary.

    When to Pitch 34/70

I try to follow good research as well as listen to the opinions of brewers more experienced than I am. The post I linked to includes 32 citations, which I think most of us would agree constitutes good research. Can you enlighten me about what exactly it is that I've missed? With citations, if...

    When to Pitch 34/70

Am I missing something about Janish, or did you just not like the book?

    When to Pitch 34/70

I was wringing my hands about this for my batch of German Pils that is currently fermenting and came across a well-researched post on Scott Janish's blog. He discusses pitching temp, as well as several other factors that you might consider: Esters and Fusel Alcohols - Scott Janish

    Re-using yeast

Brilliant, thanks. Pretty much what I've been doing as well. Those first pours of yeast cake with an unmodified dip tube can be really slow!

    Re-using yeast

I've also been fermenting and serving from the same keg. Do you prefer a floating dip tube, cut tube, or bent tube for the purposes of saving yeast?

Particulates in wort - To keep or not to keep?

I often use wort from the same brew for my starters, as you describe. I don't worry about the trub the next day, with good results. And as long as I'm doing that, no-chill is very convenient... Saves a little time on brew day, helps with my water consciousness.

Stirring helps me with the raised level inside the hop spider.

    Opinion/Experience with Imperial yeast?

A01 House specifically has made me several great beers: Milds, Bitters, etc. Haven't used it for a stout but would definitely give it a try.

Anyone ever used one of these?

I've used mine once. 3oz of pellet hops left a dry center, with the resultant "lack of hop" you'd expect from the beer.
