Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that yes, there was a bug in the 3.1.x support with 1.6.11. I submitted 1.6.12 to the app store today, which has been tested on 3.1, 3.2, and 4.0. If you have iOS 3.1 and Brew Pal will not load, never fear--your recipes ought to be safe once you update...

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

Also wanted to point out that yes, there were memory leaks. The new version of XCode (development tool for iPhone apps) is much much better at finding and displaying exactly where the leaks are coming from. I fixed ALL known leaks, as well as a few double-free instances that could cause...

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

New version (1.6.10) was submitted to the App Store this past weekend. I had to back out of a lot of changes I was in the middle of working on to get the iOS 4 decimal point working without breaking other stuff! :) New in this version: - Decimal point works (!) - Improved support for steeping...

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

ruffdeezy, can you contact me at [email protected] and explain what you are doing when it crashes? Does it always happen at the same point? I definitely want to track down any bugs and make it work well for everyone! Dave

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

Update notifications are handled completely by the app store, and are out of the control of the developer... in iTunes (on OS X), clicking on the "Applications" section in the left navigation bar will list all of your apps, then in the lower right there is a "Check for Updates" button. I think...

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

Yup, that was me :) I started advertising on the BN after meeting Justin and JZ at the Northern Brewer store opening in Milwaukee. I'll keep improving Brew Pal for as long as people are using it!

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

Happy Holidays everyone! I'm sitting here enjoying a pint of my Christmas beer and getting ready to submit 1.6.9 to the app store. I can't call it 1.7 because it doesn't have the BeerXML import/export I promised (I *am* working on it!), but it does have quite a lot of new features, which you...

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

Jesse, there is nowhere that shows it explicitly, no. I have an idea for how to handle all the volumes in 1.7, showing each step along the way. In 1.6 you can take the batch volume and add the fermentation trub loss (from the Settings tab) to get your post boil volume. With the default 0.5...

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

Yikes, Brew Pal got away from me there for a bit! Don't worry, I am working on a 1.6.5 release; hopefully to be available in the App store in a few weeks' time. - First of all, THANK YOU hexmonkey for posting screenshots and a detailed description of how to move pages! I think that will help...

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

Hi everyone, I've replying while at work (ya, my *real* job :) ), but I want you to know that I will be taking care of all outstanding correspondence tonight. You have every right to expect support, even from a $0.99 app. Dave

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

Oops, I think I know what happened. The name of the tab changed to "Grains/Adj" so the saved preferences did not find it when restoring the tab order and it got relegated to the "More..." page. It is simple to reorder the tabs, but I bet this will get a lot of people, ouch. Sorry about that!

macabra, The update should appear in iTunes automatically within a week, or you can click on "Applications" then "Check for updates" in the lower right hand corner to check automatically. Don't worry, the update is free for everyone :) godofcheese (being from the midwest, I love the name)...

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

1.6 is finally here! I also updated the webpage as promised (but long overdue). From the App Store description: WHAT'S NEW IN THIS VERSION: - Addresses #1 request: Editable database! You can now change the default values for grains, hops and additions and add your own. Yeast to follow...

BrewPal for iPhone- anyone else using it?

Hi everyone, I'm the developer of Brew Pal. Glad to hear you are using it on brew days :) Addressing the strike temp overshoot: do you know if your grains are at the starting temp in the Mash & Sparge tab? As a workaround you could tell Brew Pal that your grains are at 90 degrees or so and it...

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

1.5.8 was submitted to the app store last week--sorry, 1.6 will be a little while longer! 1.5.8 expands the Mash & Sparge features to include double sparging, infusion mashing and decoction mashing, with options for mashout, and fixes a few other little bugs. 1.6 will add database editing and...

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

You can blame a nice summer so far on my terrible reply skills :( Here goes: - Jonnio: I'm working on BeerXML import/export for 1.6, which will hopefully be submitted to the App Store by the end of this month (or early next). - ohrinet: Sorry about the dry yeast disappearing! This was an...

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

Hi everyone, just back from a little vacation... I've got quite a list of features (and yes, some bug fixes) for 1.6... I'm going to try to update the website (Brew Pal for the iPhone and iPod Touch) next week with details so stay tuned there for updates. I'll be explaining some issues with...

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

Hi everyone, I wanted to let you know that I submitted 1.5 to the App store last week. Based on previous releases, it takes 1-2 weeks to actually become available. I'm just as surprised as you are when it actually shows up for sale :) Re: entering your own grains/additions... that is probably...

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

deepsouth, I hope to submit the next version of Brew Pal (1.5) to the App store in the next couple of weeks. It includes the two most requested features: metric and extract support! Hopefully it will be available for download by early June at the latest. Dave

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

gregs765 I replied to your email, but I will post it here as well because it is a recurring question: Brew Pal uses the Tinseth equation which will give different results than some other calculators. I am planning to add other selectable equations to the next version. I've heard from other...
