Does anyone buy yeast in bulk ?

Yes very true and indeed that's what I'm doing already but not directly on the yeast cake. Depending on how the fermentation goes I will put it into sanitized Mason jars for the next batch. Me and my wife consistently make a batch every other week and just for my own reasons don't want to reuse...

Does anyone buy yeast in bulk ?

Alright that makes sense. I think I'm going to give it a shot. On the more beer website there selling 500grams of the Chico strain they call it "Cali" for 69.99. Which comes to just under 2 dollars a batch. Thanks for the quick response

Does anyone buy yeast in bulk ?

I have been super curious to buy yeast in bulk. the cost savings is huge. My only question would be what do you do with it after you open it? will it keep? and how easy can it get contaminated?. if anyone has some info on this that would be greatly appreciated.

    Adding Sodium/potassium metabisulfite to gelatin

Hey guys Has anyone ever added Sodium/potassium metabisulfite to gelatin as there adding to the keg to reduce oxygenated beer ? I know in theory it should work but I'm not sure if it will react in a negative way adding both together. Any thoughts? This would sure save a lot of hassle Cheers

    Honey malt.!

Thanks for that really informative reply I will take that to bank and instantly use your advice. Tward the end of the keg when the beer i just brewed really started to clear out it kinda lost that honey note. Came out to me as just a back sweet. Which dont misconstrued that recipe mcknuckle...

Bottle Conditioning for low carbed beers

I have a propane stove with a very small pilot light inside. When I'm done bottling a beer with kveik I put a couple in there at about 80°f and I can have a primed beer in 3 days. But I dont recommend doing it to all of them. At that temp you will never get the yeast haze out.

Oatmeal stout, Nottingham or Voss Kveik ??

I have done both ways. And I get the same result tast wise. One surprising outcome and the only difference that I can see is that when dry pitching fermentation starts way faster. I'm talking like 6 hrs and like I said thats at about 70°f.

Oatmeal stout, Nottingham or Voss Kveik ??

Thanks Pozzi Thats kinda what I was thinking about the over pitching. I did my last honey pale ale with voss and over pitched as well. I still got a hint of orange peal like character. I even fermented it at its low rang from 68 to 75 on the kitchen counter. I also live off grid and dont have...

Oatmeal stout, Nottingham or Voss Kveik ??

I have a question maybe some one has some experience on. currently i just kicked a keg of oatmeal stout from John Palmers brewing classic styles. it was so good that my wife for the first time asked how to "use the beer fridge". i really want to brew it again the week but i don't have any US 05...

    Honey malt.!

Ended up really good. I also added .5 lbs of honey because why not hah. Using voss gave it a really nice fruity taste but not over powering as I fermented it at about 65 to 68°f then slowly increased it to 74 before keg cold crashing. Even my wife likes this one. How ever I dont know if I would...

    Over night mash

Just to add i use a orange 10 gallon water cooler that I plan on pre heating with hot water and putting it next to my wood stove to keep it as close to mash temp as possible.

    Over night mash

So I have a direct question if you all don't mind. All the threads I have seen seem to go off topic to shorten a brew day. I am looking for specific experiences, positives and negatives on over night mashing. I have small kids and a stressed wife. So it's hard for me to get a full brew day in...

    Honey malt.!

Thanks for the info ! I will do exactly that for my next batch using 2 row and quick oats to keep it simple. Hops I will go with .5 oz magnum for bitter and 1 oz Idaho 7 for a dry hop. Iv been using Voss kveik for most of my beers lately as I live off grid with no hydro and is nearly...

    Honey malt.!

Hello every one ! First post on the website or any sort of forum for that mater. I have been brewing for just over a year now and am on my 10th all grain batch of beer. I could say I think I found my passion. My question is of all the research I have found on honey malt it quite fascinating and...
