Montana Single Tier system for sale

Selling my single tier RIMS brewstand. Kegs, brew stand, temp controller, pump and counterflow chiller. Camlocks, silicone hoses all included Stainless false bottom on mash tun included. Life circumstances have changed. I'd rather not ship this, so if you're in MT I can make...

    New single tier brewstand

I just use a silicone tube that angles the flow to the side of the mash tun - it erodes some malt, but i find it works fine and a manifold would just be another piece of equipment I don't need. now, i batch sparge though - not fly sparge, so if I did fly sparge, I'd rather have a nice maifold...

    New single tier brewstand

No RIMS tube, as I direct fire the mashtun. The mashtun has a screen and I re-circulate to keep the sweet wort from scorching.

    New single tier brewstand

To be clear, my pump is not automated. So you're saying pumping without an automated heat source? People do that all the time, but it's certainly labor intensive. You have to be johnny on the spot with your gas source, since you're the control. Easy to have overshoots in temp. However...

    New single tier brewstand

Yep, I start recirculating before that burner gets switched on. I don't want any scorching! I wan to be sure I'm getting a good re circulation before any heat is applied. But of course I'm not using cold water to strike my mash - I do an infusion calculation and add water to get the mash just...

    New single tier brewstand

No adjustable regulator. As you can read from my build specs I use a 2 stage low pressure regulator. My BK and HLT are on BG14 burners - and their gas supply is controlled by ball valves - I find that to be plenty sufficient. My mash tun is controlled by a furnace valve that is actuated...

    New single tier brewstand

Whoops I meant 120 It's this guy: http://www.pexuniverse.com/honeywell-vr4300a4502-gas-valve I found it on eBay new, for around $65 Um yeah I built this for well under $1000- but the keggles were in use before I made this stand Thanks for the compliment! I still need to make a better place to...

    New single tier brewstand

Just wanted to share my newly constructed single tier brewstand. It's got an automated direct fired RIMS. My furnace valve is a HONEYWELL VR4300A 4502. Cool thing about this valve is that it's controlled by a120 volt feed. This allows me to use a PID controller already have that has an SSR...

    low pressure LP needle valves

Sure you have to worry about those restrictions. If you had a clean 1/2" pipe with all 1/2" connectors then there is no restriction - but the moment you add a 3/8" restriction (from a Marshall 2 stage low pressure regulator, lets say) you'll never "undo" that restriction. You may as well use...

    low pressure LP needle valves

I'm not too worried about the 1/4" restriction. Heck, most orifices on bg12 burners have a 3/8" flare connector on them too. besides this needle valve would be right before the orifice... But, I think that many people over-do their manifold sizes anyhow. I'll be using a 3/8" BIP manifold -...

C'mon all you single tier LP guys... any ideas?

    low pressure LP needle valves

I'm building up a single tier brew stand and want to add better control to my lower pressure burners.. Doesn't say it's for LP, but I would like to use this: here are it's specs: http://www.buyhardwaresupplies.com/?t=5&itemNumber=4182804 I think it will work for my purposes -...

Yes, doing the D-rest as a safety measure. From what I have read, it won't hurt.

short lager primary fermentation - FG hit

Need some advice here.... My first lager fermentation appears to be done pretty fast. Background: I have brewed a 5 gallon batch bohemian pilsner. Used Wyeasts 2001 Pilsner Urquell lager yeast. Made a big starter for this... Used a Wyeast Activator pack and made a 1.8 liter starter...

American Porter Bert Grant's Perfect Porter tribute

I've been brewing this beer for several years now. It's my wife's favorite beer and now is my standard house porter. It might be a tad sweeter than what Grant's, but we like it that way. Other things I do.. I do add chocolate. Again, you don't NEED to, but I add it at the end of the...
