    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I did a 30/30 stout with some leftover bits and I was pretty happy with it. I've been meaning to try it again, but I got distracted with several other things I wanted to experiment with. I wanted to alter the grain bill just a bit and then brew it twice (back to back days?) as both a 60/60 and...

    Marking Bottles Without Labels

Oh, I have a silver sharpie, let me try that real quick and see what happens. Edit: really easy to read on a dark bottle, couldn't remove it with water an abrasive sponge, but it wiped right off with Isopropyl Alcohol (99%).

    Marking Bottles Without Labels

You could just go old school and use a grease pencil and write directly on the glass. Stays on pretty well until you want to take it off with acetone.

    Spike's upcoming eBIAB system

At one point I signed up for some alerts so it actually came in an email. I don't know if there's anything on the site or not. FYI, it also included this: Orders placed during the presale starting on October 14, will start shipping in early November 2020.

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Oops, I had meant to put the link in my post - I guess I forgot. I found them on Amazon when looking for something to store small amounts of grain. These are the ones I got : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086MT1C1T

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I've got three of these little experiments going now. These are 5L polypropylene containers, probably not as high quality as the Cambro ones, but I do like that lid snaps down in place. The snaps on the side compress the silicone gasket around the rim which made them water tight, until I...

    Biggest lie on homebrew talk

On a related note for searching internet recipes.... Actually, before I get to my complaint, let me just tell you, I'm reminded of when I was younger, walking home from elementary school towards the end of the spring semester, just as summer was around the bend. There was a winding path that...

can't stress how much i love my scale!

I don't even know, unfortunately. I only have this one keg that I picked up and haven't rebuilt yet, so I have yet to replace any of the bits. At a guess, I'd think most o-rings now would be nitrile, EPDM, neoprene or silicone based, but I think you said these have been kicking around for a...

can't stress how much i love my scale!

probably that's going to depend on the o-rings. If they're actual rubber, it could cause some degradation, but it might take a while as vaseline is a pretty mild petroleum product.

    Spike's upcoming eBIAB system

Spike just announced upcoming pre-ordering for the 10g & 15g units for 10am CDT on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. While I've since built my own little electric vessel, I'm still curious to see where the pricing falls for these smaller units.

    malting oats

So.... how's it going here? Seriously, I'm curious how it's going.

    malting oats

Probably not? I was just reading on hydrogen sulfide... it could be that the yeast you're using produces a lot of it? I gather the hydrogen sulfide is typically gassed off during fermentation... I think once you've kegged it, you're out of luck :(

    malting oats

I'm going to have to try this sometime in the future... but I'll probably stick to one of my micro 1G experimental batches

SS Brewtech eKettle & Blichmann BrewCommander

There's was some discussion about it in another thread and the general consensus was.... nobody was quite sure what the sensor is that comes with the brew commander. Unless you can get some information from blichmann or reverse engineer the thing, you're probably going to have to find a place...

    malting oats

I have to ask, 1) because I'm curious and 2) I don't know enough to figure it out myself... but... what are brewing up there with all those oats?

"Leftovers"... best choice recipe to use most of them?

That's a lot of leftovers... I'm thinking your best bet might be to craft up a couple of smaller batches of varying things? Unfortunately, I don't have enough insight to offer much more than that. I'll be curious to see what other people suggest though!

    Where is Homebrew Chris? Youtuber

Never heard of him before, but I did some quick sleuthing, because... I had nothing better to do this morning. :coff1: Looks like he's deleted all of his HomebrewChris accounts on Twitter, Instagram & Facebook, but if you track through a bit, he posted an Instagram photo back on August 28...
