    Slow fermentation?

    Been in fermenter for 2 weeks. I used a liquid yeast for the 1st time . Don't have a stir plate yet so swirled it a lot for 2.5 days.     O.G.

    I am brewing an American Pale Ale from an extract kit. The kit is supposed to make 5 gallons. I hit my target gravity at about 4 gallons though. Any thoughts on why?
