    Welcome Beginning Brewers!

That looks fine to me. Just wait till the time is up and taste it while bottling. You'll be able to tell if it's good on bottling day. All it does in the bottles is carbonate and get a bit smoother.

    Welcome Beginning Brewers!

Sounds like something is happening. Does it smell good? Do you have a hydrometer? If so, did you take a gravity reading before fermenting? If you did, then you could take another reading now to check how far along it is. My beer (5gallons) usually takes about 2 weeks to be done fermenting...

    Pilsner with ale yeast, or...

Thanks for this suggestion. I'm limited in the kinds of yeast I can get locally and not willing to pay big shipping for a single package of yeast. My local place has a couple kinds of kveik, but the descriptions all say it's very fruity. In fact, I'm using voss in an neipa that I have on right...

whatever came with the cooper's european lager kit. It doesn't say on the label, what yeast it is. I'd like to know.

    Pilsner with ale yeast, or...

Well, it's supposed to be above zero outside all this week and I have an unheated porch, so I went ahead and got a lager kit. Will see how it goes. I'll have to do a lot of temp checking. I put it out there last night and this morning the wort was 4C, so I brought it in. Currently it's around 9C...

    Pilsner with ale yeast, or...

No, not ready to serve, just ready to go in bottles. It can carbonate in bottles at her house. She has a cold room, but it's too difficult for her to get a fermenter into the small space. She could put bottles there, though, if necessary.

My concern is that it will go above that temp sometimes, if I keep it in the basement. Maybe I can find a spot farther from the heat source. Thanks for your reply.

    Pilsner with ale yeast, or...

Edit: Thanks for your replies everyone. This is plenty of information. I'll think about it and see what I do. My sister and brother in law like pilsner. They have been trying to make one from kits, but they are just beginning to make beer and they ferment at hot temps and it always comes out...

All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

Thanks for all the advice. Checked on this today and it's 0.006 so around 5%. It's a bit plain for my taste, but I think my friend will like it. I may try throwing a couple oz of citra in there to liven it up. I'm in the middle of another grain mash right now. Trying for neipa. struggling to...

All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

That's very good information. Thank you for telling me about enzymes. I like to know how things work. I'm not trying to match a style, just want a beer that my friends and I will like, so I'm sure it will be fine.

All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

Interesting. I may give this a try if it happens again. I was worried about ruining the whole batch. I just checked, and the airlock is moving, so I should be able to see how it turns out in 2-3 weeks. I watered it down too much and was getting 1.040, so I also added some corn sugar to get to...

All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

I'm in the middle of doing this. One of my mash pots looks good. red and fairly clear wort coming off. The other one, that was started 20 minutes earlier, is still looking cloudy and when I test with iodine, the red wort pot is fine and the cloudy one isn't. I had a thermometer that wasn't...

All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

I have 3 pots now, so I'll be spitting the grain between two pots.

Thanks for the math. That actually looks like a decent sized batch.

All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

Thanks for the reply. I'll see how it goes. I'm looking to get as much wort as possible, so I will try sparging if I have the time. Hoping to do this tomorrow afternoon. Which I guess means that I should plan a supper that doesn't need the stove top.

All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

If I did this dunk sparge thing, except I started with 2 pots, with 2gallons of water each, with the grains split evenly between them, in separate bags, then I could put both bags into a 3rd pot for dunk sparge? Does another 2 gallons in the dunking pot make sense? I now have 3 3-gallon pots. I...

All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

Good to know. Thanks. I was planning to make my own ice, but probably a good idea to check OG before adding any water, as you said.

All grain in 2x 12L stock pots? Beginner

To make a more concentrated wort... does that mean I need twice as much hops? recipe calls for 46g. Or do I just put in the 46g and it will be stronger in the less water? some of those says 60min, 8 min, and 1min. which I understand to mean how much boiling time is left... I'm really new at...
