Fermentation seemed to stall and restart

Hmm, you both make good points - maybe I've just been lucky to date. I'll give it the 'ol shakeup tonight and see what happens!

Fermentation seemed to stall and restart

Granted, but even if the absolute accuracy is off, it was still logging minor changes during the stalled period, then the sudden restart. What I'm interested in is if people know of fermentation characteristics that could explain a stall and spontaneous restart? I've never seen this pattern...

Fermentation seemed to stall and restart

Can anyone explain what's going on here - see attachment. Fermentation started fairly normally but seemed to stall then restart.... I didn't do or change anything from the start of fermentation till now.

Kegland Flow Control Keg Ball Locks?

See further up the thread - 0 feet works but is touchy to adjust, 2 feet of vinyl 1/4” which is basically no resistance (maybe 1.5 psi) works fine for me and of course you need some line anyway to get from the keg to tap in a kegerator.

Kegland Flow Control Keg Ball Locks?

Agree with nagorg and day_trippr - the correct line setup means these are not needed. As I mentioned above, in my case the kegerator hardware I have is all 1/4” fittings so these mean I don’t need 40 feet of line x 3 taps! When I did have that setup, I never had an issue - these things mean...

Kegland Flow Control Keg Ball Locks?

I just tried this out since I had the spare parts - it works, but is quite sensitive on the adjustment. Oddly, just a foot and a half or more of 1/4" line helps a lot and makes the adjustment a lot less sensitive, I can get from fast (<10sec) to slow (>20sec) pours with no foam but with no line...

Kegland Flow Control Keg Ball Locks?

Yes indeed. I thought it would be the ware tap body, either way, there's not much to do about it - how do you have an empty line between pours, or how do you pre cool a kegerator (not tower) tap? It's a small amount of foam, it's not a problem.

Kegland Flow Control Keg Ball Locks?

Oh i should mention, i have the "normal" issue of the first pour having more foam (but not unmanageable) than the rest for this reason, the first pour cools the faucet. That has not changed between the FC and normal ball locks though and i wouldn't expect it to. I'll tell you a funny extra...

Kegland Flow Control Keg Ball Locks?

I recently changed to them on my 3 tap kegerator and love them. For various reason the setup i have in my kegerator uses 1/4" line - so i needed like 40 feet of line to balance the system. That worked fine for about 2 years, but it meant a lot of beer was in the lines, and i had foaming every...

    Another "foam" thread....

There's nothing more useless than an un-concluded thread, so i'm posting the final fix! I'm happy to say, that all three kegs must have been overcarbed. Changing nothing except moving on to the next brew, I got perfectly fine pours with the difference being nothing int he setup or kegs or...

    Another "foam" thread....

errr.....i'll buy it dinner first .... Have keg lube, so will do so! This is where i'm thinking it must be happenning, at the post ring or the dip tube ring. If not, i'm going to tear my remaining hair out. And if it IS this, it has to be all 3 kegs too - admittedly they were all bought at...

    Another "foam" thread....

sorry - i didnt reply to your question on this earlier! I pressureized to 30psi and shook the keg like crazy till it stopped accepting gas. Left it overnight and set pressure to 11psi for serving - it had dropped to below that. That was 2 weeks ago, no pressure changes since apart from one of...

    Another "foam" thread....

Yeah - with one hand on shank (fridge door open) and one on tap i can't feel a difference - it's cold in the garage right now, and I just poured a pint glass and ended up with 3/4 of the glass being foam.

    Another "foam" thread....

Thanks, this was the direction i was taking - i depressurised for a day and checked, there was only 1 psi or so back in the headspace after 24 hours - i even thoguht to shake the keg a little and then released the additional couple of psi. Bit of a bummer as i was convinced it had to be the...

    Another "foam" thread....

I use what seems to be fairly standard - a tsp of gelatine in a cup of water, heat to 65C to dissolve. I just thought of it because it's common to all three kegs... I wonder if carbed water would work.... it won't foam like beer but i am convinced the issue is that i can see bubbles in the...

    Another "foam" thread....

Just thought of another factor common to all three kegs - can gelatine claryfying cause foam if i have somehow done it wrong?

    Another "foam" thread....

No, 3 different kegs unfortunately! They are all new and bought at the same time so ill look at the rings just in case. All i can come up with is overcarbed, and I’m new to kegging so still learning about force carbing and serving pressures-taking one keg down to zero and slowly bringing it...

    Another "foam" thread....

Hi all - based on the success of one of my first threads on this fine forum, I need the crowd's expertise again... First off, I have spent a bit of time reading and searching, i'm a n00b to this forum but not forums in general and know the etiquette :) That doesn't mean i didn't miss...

    What did I do wrong...?

OMFG I have been waiting for the 5 posts in 24 hour thing to expire so i can post this!!! You guys rock. Seriously, if mongoose33 hadn't said it already I would have said something similar. I have no words - just see attached photo. I killed billions of poor yeasties - TWICE! (i can't seem to...

    What did I do wrong...?

Yup - standard tap water, same as previous 6 batches. Not aware of any obvious changes (Chlorination of the supply has been introduced in some parts of my district but 100% no change for my area yet) I thought of this while this post was in draft (can only post 5x per 24hours) and you are...
