    Bochet/Burnt Mead - My take

Very valid point. I hate starting a new thread when it is already covered elsewhere but this is old.

    Bochet/Burnt Mead - My take

How did this turn out?! I’m making a big batch of buckwheat mead and have been looking for a good recipe. Love more details on this old French one you found.

What beer/homebrew blogs/magazines do you read?

I don't read Magazines. I read books when I want some new ideas or info, or hunt down a specific blog or post online, and follow a couple of groups on facebook

    Cherry Berry Mead

I'm very new to all this, bit I have learned that even if it looks clear as glass.... If you bottle it too early you will find sediment on the bottom of your bottles in a month or two. Not the end of the world, bit it seems time is the only sure sullution to dropping all sediment. I usually rack...

    Cherry Berry Mead

Well mine appear to be doing well. I made my base mead as a simple traditioinalish ( touch of blackberry leaves, earl grey tea, lime, cinamonn, vanilla) But now iI have split 5 gallons into 1 gallon jugs and added fresh kiwi, dried elderberry, dried chillie peppers, fresh rosehips. Those seem...

    Acerglyn - Maple Mead

Soooo what wad the verdict? Success and worthy ore recreation?

    Maple Sap Mead

Definitely curious to try this... Though I don't really have those trees around the coast. You boil down the sap? Just put it in a pot, turn up the heat and it liquifies? Or add water? Wondering what other tree asp I could try this with. Thanks!

How much dry yeast for 10 gallon batch

Thank you so much for such a thorough reply. Yeast, Whip and nutrients bought! I ended up buying generic yeast nutrients and Energizer, as there was no fermaid but I think it'll work just the same. Here we go: take two !

How much dry yeast for 10 gallon batch

Hey there I am currently having some trouble with my 10 gallon batch of mead. This is the first time I've done a large batch. I pitched two packets of Lalvin 71b 1122 into my primary about 24 hours ago. I did rehydrate it and let it said for a couple hours. I did not use campden tablets so that...

    Cherry Berry Mead

Do you find that to be so when brewing a melowmel with raw fruit as well? Or just a straight up mead? Id really like to avoid the tablets. So far I have not had an issue with my 1 gallon batches but I'm going for a much larger batch and am wondering if I'm taking a foolish risk. Thanks for your...

The Blood of the Wise (Cranberry/Lingonberry Mead)

We have them in British Columbia as well, at least a West Coast variety, but a bit farther North from me and seem to only be available wild, not farmed. Guess it is a Berry of the Northern hemisphere!

The Blood of the Wise (Cranberry/Lingonberry Mead)

Wonderful! Thanks for the response. I'll investigate the Lingon Berry, though as a lover or fresh harvest I'm not sure I'll got the route of concentration. Might find another local Berry. I prefer dry so it might be just right for me! Also I'm assuming by your proportions this was a 1 gallon...

The Blood of the Wise (Cranberry/Lingonberry Mead)

This is mighty close to what I was hoping to create. Cranberries! And I love how you have brought myth and lore into it. I was hoping you might be able to give a little bit more specific of a description of the flavour that came out of what you created. Was it not to your taste because it was...
