Cold Dead Hands - Electric Brew rig in action

Looks Great! I really like your steam vent set up.. I am planning something similar but your duct work looks to be a larger diameter then what i was planning to use. What size duct fan are you using?

    Force Carbing w/ diffusion stone

I am not the expert on this by any means but i have tried the diffusion stones attached to a gas in line via a 2' hose and i wasnt impressed in fact i stopped using it. They have to be cleaned (and i mean boiled) after every batch other wise they will clog and the couple times i did use it, the...

    9 pound belgian aromatic Ale

I have always read not to use more than 10% and Beersmith concurs however.. I did a search and found a couple of beers that use large amounts of it with success..

    20 oz or 5 lb co2 tank???

i have used a 20 oz tank and it really is only good for about 1.5 corny kegs.. I have not been able to get two cornies carbed and poured out of one fill on the 20 oz. If it you dont mind getting it filled often then go for it.. otherwise a 2.5 or 5 lb tank would be better.

Is Palmer wrong about priming sugar?

Dont feel bad.. I had not referenced Palmers Nomograph for carbing before, however I am sure pretty sure i would have not used it correctly the first time. Now I will know.

    240 Electrical Question

Not an electrician but trying to be constructive to the OP. Here is a question to the electricians in the audience.. Would installing a sub breaker box with the correct 15 amp breakers be a viable option?

    Electric Brew Kettles

It can be done on 110VAC but like 'The Pol' said it is tricky.. You need separate circuits for each element. Which may or may not be available where you plan on brewing.. Luckily i have them available.. but if you can get 240VAC definitely do that. I built my BK on it.. with two of these...

    Pilsner ag

Just to add to Mkling.. I like to add a bit of Vienna Malt to my Pilsners. Maybe 2-3 pounds. A protein rest may not be a bad idea either.

    Electric direct fired mash tun?

Yeah it is a standard 1" thread.. it was the highest wattage, lowest watt density 120 volt element i could find. It is 12" long so you need i good size MLT.

    Electric direct fired mash tun?

I would recommend this type of element if you want to stay 120volt.. Here It is low watt density and a good power level for mash tun for 5-6 gallon batches.
