    Dual output RTD options

Thanks all.... Definitely confirms my suspicions. Appreciate the wisdom and experience of the board.

    Dual output RTD options

Looking for some advice here..... I have a custom electric brew panel which will be home to a new EZBoil (DSPR120) regulator. The system leverages RTD PT100 temp sensors. I'd like to record temps throughout the brew process through a charting system (something like Grafana or Thingspeak)...

Sent you a message Curt, although this sounds like what my wife would post if she got a hold of my HBT account. ;)

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

Thank you Thorrak. All makes perfect sense. Appreciate all that you do for the brewing community.

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

This is a great project that I am revisiting again after a few years. Thanks for all your efforts Thorrak. I have been attempting to build the solderless version this time. Although the Kasa plugs are properly identified, the Inkbird IBS-TH2 is not. I did some digging, and this sounds like this...

240v : Scary start of brew

In some of my research on repairing the system, I came across this same recommendation. Seems like not everyone does this, but it is a best practice. And in my case, could have potentially prevented the short. Appreciate everyone's feedback. Helped build back some of the confidence I lost in...

240v : Scary start of brew

Well, I had an uncomfortable experience last night as I started to get my strike water heated. I have a 240v/50a system that has been working fine for a the last few years. I typically do a simple BIAB so I only use a single element/vessel, but occasionally I will do a 2 or even 3 vessel...

Yeast Scientists: Why not create yeast collections before brewing?

Sorry for the remedial question here, I'm new to yeast reuse. I've read several articles on washing/storing/reusing yeast after a successful brew. That all makes sense to me. It seems a bit unnecessarily tedious to attempt to separate the trub & collect the slurry in a sanitary fashion (a...

What is your process for cleaning brewing/serving tubing?

As a brewer with a keg system I have a lot of tubing to keep clean. I've noticed the one that seems to need it the most is the soft, pliable, thin hose on my floating dip tube. Since it sits in the wort/beer for extended periods of time it really picks up a stain/smell. I'm curious as to what...

    Immersion Chiller Hook

I have a stainless steel immersion chiller that I really like using, however it sits on my element at the bottom of my kettle. I know some people seem fine with this, but I can't help but think this stress is not good on the element. I'm thinking about building a 'hook' of sorts that I can...

Need help: Kettle with bottom drain

Thanks for the feedback folks. I should have clarified when I mentioned going electric - I plan on going with an internal heating element, and not an induction heat source. To the second point, after more research, the "center" bottom drain may not be ideal because of the whirlpooling. It seems...

Need help: Kettle with bottom drain

Bruce, thanks for the link. That is an impressive build! To answer your question, I believe it to be the former. I intend to go with an internal heating element, so I will not have to build a custom induction system. But it is an interesting idea! The only challenge with...

Need help: Kettle with bottom drain

Thank you @Bobby_M ,@Bassman2003 Bobby, I'm thinking about using your pull through with the 1/2" M/F NPT Bulkhead near the sidewall. That will give me internal threads if I want to create some sort of filter, plus the external threads on the bottom to continue the drain system. I know I would...

Need help: Kettle with bottom drain

I'm interested in designing and building my own electric all in one system (after all, why buy a good one for $400 when I can build a shoddy one for $1,200). My current tun is bottom draining (SSBrewtech) and I have always liked the benefits that it provides (no lost liquid to account for, no...

Fermenting in keg - Is fermcap necessary?

I'm going to attempt to ferment in a keg, then transfer to another and finish it off under pressure (spund). I'll probably use the spunding valve on the FK but with only 2-3 PSI (instead of a blow off). I'll be doing a 5 gallon batch of IPA. Since I know krausen build up can inadvertently block...

    240V Electric Plug Liquid Protection

Thanks Dunc. When I had the 240v installed, I made sure they installed GFCI, which as I understand is the US equivalent to RCD. One of the reasons I like the Ripple element is that it has a TC connection and terminates in NEMA L6-30P blades. No cords permanently attached. But then again, I...

    240V Electric Plug Liquid Protection

Excuse my ignorance on the subject..... Electricity is not my area of expertise. Does anybody use any type of physical shielding for electrical plugs in their brew setup? I am running 240v, and I've noticed that my kettle/HLT element plugs are still exposed (I use the Ripple V2s from...

Maximum Temp sensor RTD cable length?

I was wondering if there is a maximum length on RTD (3 wire) cable that I am using for my temperature sensors. I have a 12 foot cable, but would like to use 25 foot if possible. I can't find information on what the max cable length is. Anyone know? Anyone running 25 foot without problem? Thanks!

Brew Timer - Auber or App?

Thanks Bobby! Honestly the Auber solution (or any of that ilk) just seem too rudimentary & inflexible. I'm more interested in your last comment re: BrewFather. Sounds like BrewFather has a timer... and an IOS app. I'll have to check that out. You pretty happy with BF?
